The tipping point was incredible too. Clay Porter is in a league of his own for sure!

I would also like to throw “Lemonade and Ducktape Stuffs” on the list for MTB film club someday…

I was in the garage doing some work to one of my bikes over the weekend and watching old mtb movies... I had the thought of going through a few of these and re-watching them as a community and sharing things we noticed/appreciated... thus the idea for this thread. Maybe I'm nostalgic for a more simple time in mountain biking and mountain bike culture or maybe I'm subconsciously lamenting the barrage of short form content that evaporates in the blink of an eye. Either way, I feel like this is may be a fun way to re-live and re-discover these...

Seasons is epic! Still rewatch it a lot to this day. Lots of memorable pieces to that movie. Mt 7 scene gives me jitters of stoke. Was surreal going to that race track last year after dreaming about it my whole childhood. The slo mo shot of peaty when all you see is his upper fork up to his eyes as he's making the turn in MSA. Would rewind that a million times. The Whistler scene always just made me feel good and think of all the times riding with friends and being in Whistler. Shandros segment just hit me...

While it was the Whistler section from Roam that first introduced me to mountain biking (watching that on YouTube) this was the movie that really hooked me. The Matt hunter segment is my favorite, but the Stevie segment still gives me chills. For me, so much of these movies is the sound track, the songs still get me stoked, and...

is it just the repetition of the venue/event and over-saturation of insta reels and vlogs? mountain bikers know how incredibly bonkers finals day is and will most likely tune in, but a week of buffing old lines with nearly all the content looking the same as it tells the same story of the last 5-10 years isn't very compelling. vital's insta feed (the one the insta algorithm pushes, not what we post), is nothing but visually similar rampage posts from a massive number of riders, diggers, photographers. the lead-up is so diluted now, and therefore devalued as a result. i...

The fallout of the life of remittances under precarity is always under-investment and under development in countries of origin. If you enjoy heterdox economics as much as i do, Immanuel Ness has written extensively on the subject, his most recent text, Migration As Economic Imperialism: How International Labor Mobility Undermines Economic Development in Poor Countries (2023) is impeccably researched and readable(if you already understand surplus value and exchange value).

Thanks! Let me know if you have any notes. What's your opinion on tire inserts? And it's ok to be brutally honest.

So, they are replacing texting Martin Whitely questions about history with generative ai? Last time i checked, the majority of mtb history is of yet unwritten. Now WBD can more effectively steal from our forum posts though!
