Longtime NE Patriots coach Bill Belichick is a polarizing figure in American sports, but there's this quote he said that I love and can't get out of my head, "Coaches don't win games. Only the players on the field can win games. Coaches can lose games, though." That's what I think about bikes in competition. Bikes can't win races, but they can lose races. As such, my goal in setting up a bike is that it doesn't lose me the race, i.e. mechanical drag or inefficiency, mechanical failure, flat tires, inconsistent or unpredictable performance, major unpleasant tradeoffs, etc. Basically if...

There's definitely a better way to phrase that sentence, hopefully in a way that doesn't immediately trip the BS alarm. Like maybe, "Chosen by winners in countless events..." or "Taken to victory in countless events...", etc

SHORTS BOUNTY UPDATE #2 Alright, after sifting through rule books and spending more time than I thought was possible to figure out if you can wear shorts at a World Cup, here is what I've found: the UCI is cool with shorts and knee/shin protection (page 26 HERE), but each country seems to feel different ways about half-legged clothing (and other protective gear). To elaborate, the mass difference at rear axle is only maybe 1/2 or 1 lbs, but you gotta factor in acceleration when the rear wheel hits something. Suddenly that mass difference get's multiplied by g forces and the heavier wheel won't move out of way as fast
