To elaborate, the mass difference at rear axle is only maybe 1/2 or 1 lbs, but you gotta factor in acceleration when the rear wheel hits something. Suddenly that mass difference get's multiplied by g forces and the heavier wheel won't move out of way as fast

Yup that's such a clever design for sure! Could be really nice for many bikes. Here's a cool test about unsprung weight: https://m.pinkbike.com/news/nicolai-shootout-derailleur-vs-gearbox-2017… "but on the downs, it was another– better-–beast. The gearbox bike was so much quieter – almost silent, offered so much more grip and inspired so much more confidence when heading into gnarly sections" "the Pinion bike...

About gearboxes "The only real difference is a small amount of clearance" You are forgetting 2 big downsides of derailleur systems: extra unsprung weight and friction clutches. For gravity riding removing those negatives will easily outweigh a bit of extra total weight and reduced transmission efficiency. Your suspension will track ground noticeably better! Ebikes are ofcourse another place where gearbox...

by Kevin Bazar Well, Shimano makes cameras now. I’ve been a fan of their higher end cranks, shifters and brakes for pushing two decades, and now they make a POV camera that ties the operation of all those bits into some video footage (or soon will). Beyond just capturing POV footage, the idea with the CM-1000 is that data available from their Di2 electric shifting system can be imported into a yet to be released Shimano application/program that lets you see what gear you’re in at certain points in the trail. Well, the POV camera market is certainly a hotly...

A bit odd to see Suntour and Tektro stuff in a build like that. Not saying that they won't work, but wouldn't be my first choice if I had the money to build a Pivot.

Fullface and goggles but no DH bike, then it must be enduro, right? Anyway, cool laid back vid with a great song choice! Great job!

kanioni Added a comment about product review Supra30

Great review! I've got a pair of these on my dirt jumper. The rear rim has developed some throw and flat spots, but front rim is fine. I've had some loose spokes, which might be partly a reason for the throw. Hard hitting riders will be better off getting the stronger FR30 rim for rear wheel. Also, my rims (32h) turned out to be 500g each instead of the claimed 470g.
