Canyon will be the first, it'll be called the phase shifter. No one on earth will use it, except for Jesse Melamed... and he will beat everyone's pants off with it. But seriously, canyon is primed for some sort of real time, variable leverage rate situation with their shape shifter. KISS... amirite?

Not that anyone ever would ever bother to do this on the dumb two-shock ebike, but I’m trying to imagine how hard it would be to pick a base tune for two identical shocks working in parallel on a fairly normal leverage rate. The funny thing with the one flight attendant shock is that, in that dual shock layout, every time the FA shock locked out it would make the suspension twice as soft by diverting all the force to the other shock.

Hey hey folks, having an interesting conundrum with my Hope T4 V4's and am interested to see if any of you have had similar issues. I picked up my set last August and had run them without complaint until the other week when my front lever started pulling much farther into the bar about 2 minutes into a mild descent...
Should have phrased that better, my point was that going up 20mm is not going to make enough of a difference to make a set of lower end Shimanos feel similar in power to set of Mavens. Personally, I run 220 HS2's with my T4's so I'm not turning poor 200 centrelines into funny rainbow colors but I didn't feel...

not worth the extra $200? ( first i'd love to know where in the world we have all that price difference, a Maven Silver in NZ is the same as V4 braided ), but even if it was to be 200$ they're worth it just for the quality, let alone the control they've got. And i still believe when on braided with a nice thick rotor and proper bleed they feel everything but vague. Just checking them side by side, the quality and finish are nowhere near, especially the caliper is in another world, then working on them you see...

Were they straight? Honestly I never find rotors straight out of the box, shimano and sram being the worse ones, the bigger hs2 are the worst ones for sure I had luck with both the Magura and Trp ones being thicker but never perfect out of the box, So it might be that, if they’re bad then of course they won’t feel good as they would be pushing the pad back in some spots

Going up 20 mm, in my experience, isn't going to get them that close, especially on an ebike. I'd look at upgrading the brakes at that point and reusing the icetech's. The Mavens and TRP's are damn good but spending the extra $200 or so to get some Hope T4's is seriously worth the consideration, they are worth every penny...

Maybe I missed the news or a previous post, but those pretty red Pike and Lyrik forks we've been seeing on athlete bikes for a while are now available for retail purchase. Was that lumped in with the 70/90/Motive release or was it just a quiet trickle out into the market?

Quite often running used parts off returned/warrantied bikes that can't be resold. I've got a lot of kit that way.

My issue with my Rocky Mountain Altitude is actually that the Sram eagle axs rear deraillieur b-screw will violently slap against the hanger and make really loud clanking sounds. I've taken slow motion videos to confirm this - chain never makes contact with the frame. Has anyone solved this? In terms of rumors and speculation, I imagine that bike manufacturers could make a silent bike but the effort involved wouldn't translate to increased sales.

STFU guides. They actually work. They also help with the mythical pedal kickback. External cables with proper guides/clamps. Lastly a silent rear hub. But none of it really matters when you ride solo with earbuds in 90% of the time.

My $8000 bike I bought a year ago with a clutch derailleur still sounds like garbage so I think they still need to work on it.

Regarding contact adjust, I've read multiple places that the way that works on SRAM RSC-style brakes is different. On those, it changes the rotation of the eccentric cam that the lever uses to drive the master cylinder piston. This cam has varying amounts of mechanical advantage throughout its rotation. Winding the C adjuster out on these brakes decreases the mechanical advantage, making the lever pull effectively more linear (ratio of lever movement to piston advancement gets closer to 1:1). So the distance you have to pull the lever in order to make the pads contact the rotor gets shorter, but...

i love you friggin nerds. all bikes are great somewhere. all bikes suck somewhere. get moar bikes. short chainstays are cool. long stays are pretty wild too. dorado FEELS way different to 40. Way. but thats the point right? I feel like santa cruz screwed up by not making bullit "MOST BIGGER" (battery/travel/geo) compared to VALA. but my ebike is a 2stroke. so maybe im way off.

As someone who has been on this thread a while I'll say: Leave the banter I feel like this thread does a good job of balancing Tech rumors and general Tech discussion that may seem off topic, of which Crab link is our proudest moment. The banter around the tech is just as important as the tech. If you just want a hot-list of rumors about stuff coming out, then well look elsewhere.

From what I had in the shop, not the same at all Not sure on the trail as I’ve only ridden on braided hoses with Hopes but even riding with a guy that had the exact same set up other than hoses he said himself that mine felt way better and more defined I’d try to bleed the caliper by pushing pistons out and opening the bleed nipple while pushing them back, perhaps there can be some air behind the pistons making them feel more vague, I’d try it, but I’m confident that the stiffer hoses do make a real...

i keep reading this and i keep finding my brakes the opposite, V4 braided paired with hope adapters and 2.3mm rotors, so i'm wondering, given that every other Hope brakes i try always have the normal hoses and feels soft/spongy, and mine and some customers that i installed, all with braided hoses, have a nice and defined/firm bite point, what hoses do you have? While Hope's claim is that there's no difference, i really don't believe it, stiff hoses do make a difference, especially in feel.

First off, I just want to personally say that I loved your podcast you did with Remy was awesome. Your perspective and optimism around the future of Enduro was heartening to hear. I hope that it does go back to "cool bikes in cool places" and that you continue to have a long career racing your bike as fast as you can on dirt. Thank you so much for being a great ambassador for the sport and for mountain biking in general. I do wonder if you feel like the general landscape of sponsorship lends its self to be parasitic...
