I actually left Maxxis in February 🥲 so I'm not tied into the day-to-day anymore. I would expect them fairly soon though as they were ordered months ago.

Forekaster v2 front and back works well on a little bike. Surprising amounts of grip for the category.

Back at it again with my horrendous image measurements, this time something actually bicycle related. I took the shock eye to eye of 225mm and zoomed in super close to align it to the centre of the shock bolts and scaled the image until the measurement was exactly 225. I drew a line to the middle of the shimano crank spindle and the middle of the rear thru-axle (also zoomed in until my eyes were bleeding to estimate the centre as best as possible). I then measured the horizontal distance between the two points (used construction lines to make this...

New FOX 38 is live! Here are all the details and some initial thoughts - https://www.vitalmtb.com/forums/hub/2027-fox-38-fork-tech-info-impressi… TLDR - The 38 gets the same revamp that FOX already gave its 36 and 40 models—new Glidecore air spring, revised Grip X2 damper, new generative-designed lowers with more pushing overlap, less torsional stiffness and more fore-and-aft stiffness; relocated bypass channels in the lowers, new bleeder valves, and new fender/mounting points. Also new 5cc volume spacers which is fun for tinkering, and PM200 rotor instead of PM180 like before. Bye bye brake adaptors. All the changes focus around improving the fork's ground feel and...

Just got this from Knolly: A Message from Noel Buckley I'm going to keep this simple because you deserve that. The last few years have been the hardest this industry has ever seen, and Knolly has not been immune. But we have been fighting through it: restructuring costs, tightening operations, and doing the difficult work of right-sizing the business to match a new reality. We were making progress. That progress was cut short. Our bank, RBC, has made the decision to call in our account. This comes at a time when RBC is posting record annual profits, $20.4 billion last...

I've been running 180-210 droppers for the last few years, and the bike that I always seem to want/need the max drop on is my Dreadnought. I had a Spur with a 180 and probably could have used a 150 without penalty. On my Druid v2, 180 is fine. There was zero overlap between the Spur and Dread in terms of trail selection, whereas the Druid pushes into Dread terrain a bit more. For me, gnarlier terrain = more drop. YMMV

I found the m2 without the spacer to generally be more comfortable, but it lost a lot of it's mid stroke support. I imagine the reduced lower leg volume of the m3 helps with that.

I wonder how close you get can the RXF38 M.2 to the M.3 performance by simply removing the negative spacer and getting a lighter compression tune when it becomes time to service.

My brother runs a shop in Eureka and this is definitely true there. A significant portion of the community relies on bikes for commuting and when money is tight people ditch their cars first.

To keep it relevant to bikenomics…with the conflict going on overseas and with gas prices hiking, I will say bike shops do see higher traffic during gas spikes as people look to bike to work. I wouldn’t call the biking industry recession proof but there are certainly interesting market factors that could help soften the blow.

As a Korean American, I'm pretty stoked that the world cup is heading to South Korea. On every team's bingo card should be: - Korean BBQ - Soju Bombs - Korean fried chicken - Karaoke rooms - Spa house lol

Emil Johansson just shared a heavy update regarding his recovery from his terrifying Rampage crash 4 months ago. A dislocated hip has turned into a far bigger ordeal, as a torn iliopsoas muscle has complicated things significantly. An attempt was made to reattach the torn muscle (which is the primary hip flexor), but it was ultimately unsuccessful. To make matters worse, there is nerve damage which has led to loss of function in the quads. 10 weeks post surgery, Emil says he is now at a point where he can "walk around without crutches on flat ground relatively OK", but...

Insane prices for questionable/marginal benefit. Not that i have a dh bike, but if there's one bike where i would want my components to be as simple, min-maxed, and beep-boop free as possible, that would be it. I can't help but think this is more of a showcase "halo" item and marketing exercise.
