If designed to the same max load, a 35 mm bar is approximately 10% stiffer. The required cross sectional area of the 35 mm bar is also smaller, so it would be lighter. Below is an example where the bar is evaluated as a basic cantilevered beam where the length is 400 mm and the load is 450 N. r1 and r2 correspond to the 35 mm bar and r3 and r4 correspond to the 31.8 mm bar.

Ibis is planning to release a Ripley SL in a 120/130 configuration. Will lean more XC than the current Ripley (130/140). Release is expected around April, from what I've heard. Was unable to find out if the HD6 was going to be offered as an all-29 option.

LinkedIn posts and I worked at Trek HQ up until last week. I decided to leave on my own terms for a new opportunity. I wouldn’t be surprised if there was an article on Bicycle Retailer soon.

I just picked up a fox podium as a loaner for a month to try out. I just got my first ride on it this morning. Initial impressions are quite positive and I was pretty surprised by how sensitive it was, bordering on how my 38 with v2 smashpot feels in terms of willingness to move under small chatter. I'll post more of my impressions as I spend more time with it. Initially I would say that there are grip benefits for off camber corners situations and extremely chunky sections. If I had to boil that down to a number...

I think the other racers could learn a thing or two from Aaron with how he conducts himself. this interview is a prime example of a professional athlete getting the news out about new deals, and letting us in behind the scenes so to speak of how these deals come together and how it can work in a race season. Kudos to Aaron, Frameworks team and Vital for providing this. Good luck on the season ahead!

Bruh, we got soooo much new stuff coming this year, y'all better hold onto yer butts! Not sure why @RiderMikeCheck1 keeps calling one of the new-news the DHF2, though. That ain't it and it's a substantially different tire than the HR. However, he is right that a lot of people are gonna like it! Stoked to see more folks trying out the HR in some varying conditions. I think your point about wanting help from your tires when things aren't ideal is so spot on. Personally, I rode our more open treads like the DHF/DHR than the Assegai prior to...

Jacks announcement took a few of us by surprise last night. It's sad that one of the best riders in the world, arguably the most charismatic too is unable to secure a ride for next year and in some ways, coerced into retirement. I hope he finds a role somewhere, he would be a fantastic "face" of a company. The content would be top level. Jack is majorly responsible for MTB in Australia spreading so far, his influence on youngsters and his personal approach to grassroots racing that I have seen first hand is commendable. He truly is one of...

A few thoughts on switchgrade. I also agree when gradients are mellow (non-granny gear climbs), it doesn't prove much benefit (or too much of a benefit). But the biggest reason why the switchgrade has been worth it for me was to alleviate back pain. My hips and spine are in a much more neutral position and whether it's causation or...

It's a very interesting and impressive interview. Thank you, Sam, for taking the time and going so much into detail and also Jeff, of course for trying and then making this happen! It was interesting to hear how YT experienced the turbulent times during covid. For us, I can say, that we already saw OE orders being postponed and cancelled already around Q2 2022. But the more important thing happened to me in April 2021. There was one particular OE customer who used to need around 1,500 post per year from us. End of 2019 (pre-Covid) we received a projected...
