9/7/2025 5:22pm New Trek Slash+ with the TQ HPR60 has been quietly released in some markets. Similar release to the Kenevo SL2 in the sense that the frame is identical, it's just the motor and a few components that have been updated. At least for the prior models the motor can be upgraded/replaced. Always thought it was kinda shitty of specialized with the Kenevo SL to not let customers buy the new motor when purchasing it out of warranty even though the bolt pattern and battery was identical. 2026 Slash+ 9.7 2026 Slash+9.9

9/4/2025 4:09pm when i heard about specialized auburn facility closing, i figured that since the demo is obviously baked and ready for production (based on WC bikes), stumpy15 is out and maybe enduro is done (no idea), that they prob figure they don't need an off-site suspension and long-travel bike development lab for half a decade or more. would have to believe their focus is going to be on motor/battery tech in the future.

8/29/2025 9:17am Some food for thought… let’s assume each leg is a cylindrical joint where it can slide linearly and rotate around the axis of said cylinder. A cylindrical joint on its own is equivalent to four points of contact. Six points of contact fully define the position of something in space. Two cylindrical joints is eight points of contact. Both right side up and upside down forks are technically over constrained and rely on flex and/or bushing clearance to move smoothly. In the world of aligning linear rails with bearing cars, you pretty much always have to float in at least...

8/28/2025 11:55am Did some quick CAD maths. Feel free to correct: Given a 400mm stanchion height and 20mm press distance into the axle/stachion union, a 1mm offset at the non-axle end as observed means the concentricity between the base and the top of the stanchion press union is .05mm or .002". That does not included the perpendicularity between the effective stanchion press interface axis and effective axle axis (axle + threaded sleeve concentricity and size tolerances). If the concentricity is perfect then the resulting stanchion to axle axle angle to get a 1mm offset is 0.144deg. In reality both of these tolerances...

8/25/2025 8:37am That would be really cool. With Anna, Asa and Dylan racing Elite would it be the strongest US DH team ever? Not to mention the army of smoking fast Juniors Neko has on the development team.

8/17/2025 2:35pm RE: 2016: People may not remember this, but it was not a good year in the bike industry. Europe had terrible weather in March and April, Brexit was happening, there was an unforeseen glut of inventory (at the wholesale/distribor) level in the USA and China saw a big slowdown that caused their market to contract. If you go dig around you'll see stories on this stuff. As to the future, while I don't have a crystal ball, I do believe they'll hit their 2025 numbers. This is not inflation adjusted, just raw sales numbers. One thing I learned in working...

8/12/2025 11:48am Also the same, the Leatt stuff works amazingly for me, and with all the doom and gloom in the bike industry these days, it's great to see a company going well. I do wish that ADU was still the importer though, I always got on well with that crew and found their product support above average.

8/4/2025 11:12am Well just wanted to share some results on some tire durometer measurements that I have collected of some of the more popular tires in my collection. Method: All tires were measured while sitting on a flat plate of steel to provide equal and consistent backing support. Nothing was measured mounted. I measured the Maxxis brand new out of the box and again after this weekend's Boondocks race at NorthStar, no change was detectable in the results, so I just added the miles that I was at after measuring yesterday. All measurements were an average of 3. The hysteresis of the...

7/23/2025 9:12am My 2c after three months / over 500 miles on the Essential: it feels almost too good to be true initially, but the performance of the fork doesn't degrade over time and as you get used to its slightly different feeling (and a longer offset in my case), it just rides better and better. I too have had problems with hands going numb and the Essential is giving me the best riding comfort of all forks I've ridden so far without sacrificing performance and stability.

7/22/2025 5:06pm I swore off Rapha when they sold to Walmart, but decided to try their kneepads after reading some reviews and they are excellent. The lightweight trail pants on sale is also a recommendation if you live in area of poison oak and ticks and prefer the slight protection on offer.

7/22/2025 10:21am Ibis, Giant, Santa Cruz, Ghost, Commencal, etc. EDIT: dual short links obviously, any Horst link bike is technically a dual link bike by that metric. EDIT: tired after a training session, I saw the frame design topic at the same time and the Vala comment, kinda though the question is aimed at the aluminium Vala and just answered, not seeing all the other answers.
