Hey everyone, this is TJ. Tariffs aren't fixed to factory cost, or wholesale or retail. They're calculated based on the specific transaction price. The example we used is accurate for an ecomm purchase, shipped from our warehouse in Canada. If a retailer ordered the same short and we charged them half the price ($100), the same tariff percentage would apply, so tariffs would be $145 for a total cost to the retailer of $245. If the retailer sells that short to a customer and maintains their dollar margin the short would be $345 to the end user - however if...

My last bike was a Large Megatower v1 with cascade link and long cs position resulting in ~1.75 fc/rc and that gave a lot of confidence when cornering. I ended up choosing to ride that bike at bike parks more than the large RAAW Yalla! that I also had at the time because it felt easier to ride. I had a -10mm headset installed and long cs setting on a large which gives something like 1.85 fc/rc. Now riding a medium frameworks enduro with 1.80 Fc/rc and I can’t help but think I still prefer the Megatower haha. Also tried...

Let's just say their margin is 50%. That means what used to cost them $100 now costs them $245 including duties. If they passed along just the incremental cost of the tariff to the consumer, the new retail price would be $345, not $490.

My bike (Nicolai G1) geo: HA: ~62.5º SA: ~78º R: 510mm WB: 1349mm CS: 474mm FC:RC 1.85 Handlebar height: 113cm (used to run 107cm for years) I've run this same bike with 442mm, 453mm and 462mm chainstays. My current setup offers the most front end grip and is the easier to corner. I would love to try 500mm chainstays and see how the bike would handle with FC:RC 1.75. I have found that the longer the chainstays the more stack you can run and still have loads of front end grip. Long chainstays also allow me to climb steep stuff...

I also heard this news about Revel today thru an industry buddy. What a bummer. Their booth looked nice at Sea Otter and their employees there seemed pretty optimistic. Musta been a decision post sea otter. At least they didnt pull a Kona, I guess.

I wish more bikes came with reach adj headsets. I know some brands have launched bikes with ZS56/56 headsets touting reach and angle adjust compatability, but unless you're running a straight steerer, you'd have to run an external lower cup to adjust reach, which negates a lot of the effects. I think one workaround is to intentionally design the bike...
Quick update on my SJ15 alloy. I'm ~250 miles in, and here are some changes/notes I've compiled. - The bike feels great with a 150mm fork in the neutral or slack HTA. I bumped up to a 160mm fork and had to install the steep headset cup and slide my saddle about 10mm forward. This kept the bike feeling balanced descending and kept me from feeling super rearward climbing. I used my phone with an angle measuring app, and my HTA was still ~64.5 degrees with a +1-degree cup and 160mm fork. - I had to use carbon paste in...

please don't respond about geo to this (or even respond at all), but just FYI, you can easily compare bikes and their geo in our product guide. here's a quick one i put together between a dreadnaught, firebird and sb165 - new bikes are being added all the time. https://www.vitalmtb.com/product/compare/64471,64876,50471?sizes%5B%5D=…

Did a little bit of searching on this and the USA Customs and Borders Protection actually have some rulings on this and consider the bicycle frame to be the main part of a complete bicycle and therefor the defining part for the designated country of origin for a complete bike. So if the frame is made in mainland china, painted in Taiwan and then assembled in Vietnam it would still be considered as Made in China product. https://rulings.cbp.gov/ruling/N302992 https://rulings.cbp.gov/ruling/735368 Regarding Canada, we have a Trans-Pacific free trade agreement but that includes only Vietnam, Malaysia and Japan. China, Taiwan, Indonesia, Cambodia...

Around me where we ride alot of state parks, there is no one giving tickets, but there is swath of people who don't want bikes on any of the trails. They love to conflate any poor interaction to anyone who rides bikes. We have tons of mutli use paths that connect trails. Its gone take one bad accident and we may lose bikes in our parks. They don't care if its EMBT or what class. Its a bike to them. I don't understand why anyone needs to go that fast pedaling. Commuter on road, sure.I was trying to figure out...

gonna play devil's advocate x1000 here about levo speeds with the explicit mention that i don't care if anyone anywhere buys one, i would NEVER buy one (who has nearly 5 figures to spend on a bicycle with or without a motor???), i'm painfully aware of the wrench this class 3 stuff throws into trail advocacy, i fully expect 87.69% of levo owners to be rallying illegally in class 3 and i fully expect downvotes to go skyhigh, but... i own a toyota yaris (maybe 97mph top speed). a mid-life-crisis guy in a neighborhood down the way owns a ferrari...
