Full agreement in regards to what @jeff.brines is saying about FC/RC ratio for modern bikes. Luckily I can ride medium and small sizes, so the RCs can be pretty good as long as the FC isn't super crazy. A recent Transition Spire project:: Alloy frame (medium) with 27.5 rear wheel and +2 angle cups. 190mm fork, 180 rear travel with cascade link. Going to the more progressive linkage will get you a softer off the top feel. You'll likely want to go up in spring rate to keep sag similar. In my mind, the whole starting ratio thing is more of a question of whether or not spring rates will work out for people or not. If you say that you want a heavy rider to be on a 650, then you have to limit starting leverage ratio. Personally I feel bigger riders get the most benefit out of a longer shock stroke as opposed to a more linear bike. For example...

Coil shocks for everything! Tallboy 4 w/ cascade link and 7.5' x 2.0' coil shock (stock is 190mm x 45mm). Rear travel is around 145mm, front is 150mm with a 64.5 degree HA. Very supple, yet still supportive and a blast to pump down the trail. With light wheels (as pictured), it rips the climbs and is a big mileage all day trail machine. Swap to heavier wheels and tires and it will handle any enduro course out there.

New Trek Slash+ with the TQ HPR60 has been quietly released in some markets. Similar release to the Kenevo SL2 in the sense that the frame is identical, it's just the motor and a few components that have been updated. At least for the prior models the motor can be upgraded/replaced. when i heard about specialized auburn facility closing, i figured that since the demo is obviously baked and ready for production (based on WC bikes), stumpy15 is out and maybe enduro is done (no idea), that they prob figure they don't need an off-site suspension and long-travel bike development lab for half a decade or more. would have to believe their focus is going to be on motor/battery tech in the future.
