I was curious also. Here is a speculative guess based on the newer enduromtb test. We know the input force is the same, so the fluid pressure is very useful. Mt7: 42.7bar; XT: 55.7bar. XT/Mt7 can produce 55.7/42.7 = 1.30 times the oil pressure of the mt7. Using a XT/mt7 setup then should produce about 1.3*216Nm (sinter green pads) = about 281Nm. More than Trickstuff... I was the one who broke the Scalpel, and I’m not surprised I did - overshot the landing of a large jump for an XC bike, landing in the pocket between the landing and the flat ground after it. Huge bottom out. I corrected Kaz at Pinkbike’s quote - he had flatteringly guessed me to be 190lbs, whereas I am 220lbs. Nothing fishy. I wholeheartedly believe the Scalpel is fit for purpose and that it was my fault! Was having far too much fun and got carried away.

Just got back from a day at Dyfi. This is the production-ready model, two were being tested by journalists in preparation for the official launch on the 12th. In person it’s absolutely striking and looks like nothing else out there. If the frame only price is reasonable then I’ve never been more tempted by a bike. (If anyone from Atherton bikes wants me to remove the photo I’m happy to, but as it’s been seen by upwards of 100 people today I’m sure it’s fine).
