(Pic grabbed from NSMB ) See the big hole behind the 3 smaller holes? That's essentially the amount of adjustment you have. I'll wager that's maybe 3 complete revolutions at the adjuster. You'll find out if you went too far when you try to bleed the system and it won't accept any fluid. IMO, the Hayes bleed instructions may not have the bleed process 100%. The orientation of the bleed ports referenced to the timing and compensator ports on the MC may create a scenario where an air pocket can be trapped in the MC bore, in front of the...

I am surprised to see that the MTB industry is on par with the golf industry, no pun intended. I feel like golf has much greater mass apeal and has seemingly incredible amounts of outside industry sponsorship within the sport so it's a surprise to me that the industry size is similar.

Towards the end of the conversation, it was insightful to note that there are companies who are content at running lean and not getting out over their skis when it comes to growing their business. I think about what Neko and co are doing with their Frameworks project and following a "drop" model sounds like a sensible way to manage...
Does anyone have any tips on reducing the lever throw on Dominions? I love the light lever feel but there is quite a bit of throw before you get into the meat of the braking force. Something the testers seem to have noticed too in the brake test that just dropped.

Just going to leave this here...Rocky Mountain Bicycles is using the FSA system on the carbon Altitude and Instincts, and our own designed (FSA made) ZS56|66 round headsets for the alloy models. 10mm of reach adjust possible. The headset guts are just standard components: bearings, races, top caps, etc.

Working for FSA I can 100% confirm that there is NO room in a ZS 56 HT to run a reach adjust for tapered. some for straight. The bigger issue for most users is getting the cups in straight (yes this really is an end user/shop issue that has to be heavily considered having dealt with other systems). The better option is the RAS reach adjust. Luckily MTB companies I think want to go away from internal routing, so more open to this option. We are trying....

FSA has a system called the RAS. not a full +/- 10mm (20mm overall) but about +/-5mm. Being shopped to companies right now with an open design so that it can become a standard. Discussions on angle as well (though gets into a MULTITUDE of cup options if you combo it all). We are trying... just need bike companies to buy in. But the designs are out there and being shopped.

What are you talking about? The zero stack 56 headset all allows for the largest room of any headset that’s available. You should be able to do 8 mm front and back with a straight. Fork and five mill front and back with a standard tapered fork The only thing that offers more is that stupid ZS66 that a few companies use for E bikes for some reason.

Unless you’re running a straight steerer fork, even if you’ve got a 56/56 head tube, I think you’d need to run an external lower cup for a reach adj headset? I think that eliminates a lot of the benefits.

The Sentinel is still a bit more descent hungry than the Stumpjumper 15. It just rides with more authority and isn't as light on its feet as the Stumpy when it comes to moving the bike around. Not to say you can't get jiggy on the Sentinel. I would just pick it over the Stumpy if I was heading to a bike park or going shuttling since it felt more composed in the rough stuff. Climbing abilities are really similar. I rode the Stumpy with an Eliminator/Bucher GridTrail casing tire combo, and the Sentinel with a High Roller 3/Assegai DH...

Rumour of my demise have been exaggerated. We are safe. But we are forever changed. A water & wind event of near biblical proportions hit us & has taken far more lives than can be counted. Didn't know where to make my one post, but this will be it for a long time. No politician, no plan, no design could have stopped anything that happened here. A stream I could step across took the first home at the top of it. A friend lost 10 members of his family saving his wife and kids watching his parents & relatives swept...

I actually recorded a podcast with Asa today to chat about his first season racing World Cups—the highs, lows, lessons learned, and all that good stuff. The podcast is live, and YouTube is uploading now. Was a really fun convo and it was sweet to get to know a bit more about Asa. A full Inside Line podcast with him is for sure needed in the future. Yup, he's out for MSA. There wasn't much of a question if he would try to race after finding out the state of his back injury. But as you'll hear in the conversation...
