Thinking back to almost a year ago when I rode the Grappler, the feel was very similar to the Vee Attack HPL. I honestly can't think of a separating factor that places one above the other. They both were awesome front tires, and the Grappler in the rear in the MoPo compound hooked up nicely on gravity-fed trails.

I have not ridden the HPL's but the Grapplers in the Mopo compound are now my go-to tires F&R. They are super tacky and have great wear life - outlasting my buddies 3C assagai which keep losing side nobs.
