iceman2058 Liked a product review Tested: Trickstuff Direttissima

In the world of costly bike parts, Trickstuff has always had a special aura around it. Unapologetically dedicated to building the finest brakes money can buy, this German company makes a premium product and charges a pretty penny for it. We wanted to look past the sticker shock to find out if they also deliver value for money – keep reading to find out how we’ve been getting along with the Direttissima. Strengths Weaknesses Incredibly well-made product Smooth action Great ergonomics Very powerful Great modulation Consistent, dependable performance Quality and durability No bite point adjustment (only reach) The lever...

7/21/2024 1:11pm I have definitely not heard anything about the new Trek Slash+ being released on the 26th of July with the new TQ 580Wh, SRAM Maven's on the SRAM spec, weighing 20.9kg / 46lbs in size medium and the 9.9 XO AXS build pricing the same as the non-e Slash 9.9 XX AXS

7/16/2024 10:49am The Ripley of yesteryear is officially dead. No longer a light XC bike that could shred trails with 120mm. Now a 130mm bike that's pretty heavy and is actually the exact same frame as the Ripmo (just different clevis and shock between the two frames). This plus weird geo changes... Ibis trying to stay afloat/be profitable by selling two bikes with the same frame--just swapping a part and shock.

7/16/2024 8:57am Really does look like they're sharing front triangles b/w the Ripley and Ripmo. BB on the smaller sizes is super low.

7/14/2024 4:41pm I’ve been running them with the TRP rotors that are 2.3mm No issues, they do pretty well at staying straight and big fan of the gel style coating on the arms to prevent rusting

7/12/2024 2:07pm Thanks - these are helpful data points. I'll stick with the Dachle HDs. Any issues with them coming out of true?

7/12/2024 2:05pm Somehow deleted the bit about the Trickstuff Dachle HD 203mm rotor I run on my front Cominion brake setup when I edited this. Basically boiled down to the Dachle HD works great with the Dominion A4 caliper. It actually had more grip/pad interface for friction than the 200mm HS2 rotor I run on the rear. Same brake setup and pads front/rear. I also finally swapped out the rear brake line and the supposed Hayes compatible banjos and bolt are not at all. Bolt definitely does not work with Dominions although it claimed to on the website. Ended up reusing the...

7/12/2024 12:47pm Piston retraction is always set off the rotor surface. It doesn't matter how wide a rotor is as long as it fits in the slot through the caliper. I've got set of Dominions sitting on my desk right in front of me. The slot in the caliper measures 3.25 mm. If you run a 2 mm rotor, you've got 0.625 mm of clearance per side. Does your rotor run out this much? It's possible for a rotor to be perfectly straight, but it's also possible for a rotor to be worse than this. If you go run a rotor that...

7/12/2024 11:40am Has anyone run aftermarket rotors with their Hayes Dominion brakes? I called their tech center, and they recommend sticking with rotors that are 1.95mm (2mm at most) or narrower due to piston retraction. Vital review got me curious about the Trickstuff Dachle rotors, especially since they're a surprisingly a decent value, but they are 2.05mm wide.

7/8/2024 8:57pm Based on my experience with it the lower headset cup is too small to give you more than 1 or 2 mm in reach adjustment. Even with a normal 56mm headset you need use an external cup on the bottom for the lower bearing to sit outside the head tube with a tapered fork.

7/2/2024 7:18am My takeaway is that by removing the Evo from the lineup, there’s far less blurred boundaries on what the enduro bike of choice will be when the Enduro bike does come out. I think Specialized is trying to make more of a distinction which segment their bikes play in.

6/27/2024 3:56pm I think the shock was also hinted at in the most recent podcast between specialized and PB. Really curious about how it performs and pretty cool to see a frame manufacturer working in tandem with a company like Fox to push innovation in a meaningful way (beyond electronic gnomes spinning compression dials).

6/27/2024 2:17pm I have an unreleased 140/150mm bike in the shop that comes stock with a Fox 36 and Mavens type build kit with a completely new inline fox shock with the bike manufacturers logo on it and a HUGE air can. It's very strange to see an inline shock on a build like this so I'm interested in whats going on with it. Apparently next week we'll know. It kind of looks like an RP23 with a high volume air can but 1.5x the size
