Respectfully, were you able to change rear spring rate on both bikes? I can see that the V10 has a coil, but I can't tell on the TR11 because the shock is behind your leg. For what it's worth your experience with the new TR11 and the new RS suspension tracks pretty well with what I've seen. I got my wife a TR11 in the S size and she's a good rider, but wanted a couch with some wheels attached over a lap time hunting machine. Hear me out, a gearbox “enduro” bike with 180-200mm travel (ie. Kavenz VHP X), and then a trail/all mountain bike (135-150mm rear, 150-160mm front) depending what your local laps look like. With the gearbox bike, you can still go climb if you want to ride gnarlier winch and plummet terrain, and it’s also perfect for the shuttle/lift served days. The smaller bike is the easy choice for rides that won’t consist of lots of gnarly terrain.

I'm in a similar position; daily driver is 140/150 Smuggler with a TI Vendetta SS for when I want to mix it up (plus a road bike and a gravel bike) and been thinking about trading in the Smuggler for 2 bikes. I do all manors of cycling on dirt and mixed surfaces pretty much equally so I know how you feel about the two bike optimization question. In your case, already having a smuggler I feel pretty confident about the path forward. The easy answer becomes to build your smuggler back down to a 130/140 lite weight build and partner it with a orbea rallon enduro/dh. I actually rode 3 bikes on this trip, 1 heavily modified enduro bike (XL nomad 6) and 2 dh bikes (L TR11 - L V10), so I got a pretty good chance to directly compare a 175/180 enduro bike to a dh bike. Two Mushroom is best trail in the park Unsure why Goats Gully has been closed for weeks.. I think I wouldn’t just cut and dry compare valley trails to bike park trails. First off, they are all amazing and freaking sweet. Second of all, I’m in the bike park to do tech laps on a DH bike at pace over and over and over again. You’re not doing that in the valley. I leave the bike park for huge pedals, loamers, wilder slabs, etc etc Two different ball games and both worth it.

@ebruner What's your hot take on bringing your enduro bike set up just right, vs. the rental V10s? Assuming your Nomad hadn't gone down, would you rather have just rented a V10 in hindsight?

I can compare the rekon, magnotal, and trinotal, but not the dubnotal as it's a bit too light for me Just as a heads up, while the trinotal looks reminiscent of the forekaster, it has much shorter knobs. In terms of overall grip/rolling resistance, its forekaster > magnotal > rekon > trinotal. I really like the center tread on the magnotal, but the sideknobs don't quite reach forekaster levels of grip

Maxxis are the undisputed kings of SKU-creep and the DHF has been racking up SKUs for decades. We'll all be on 36" wheels by the time they finally shift the last one. They still have the HR2 and the old Dissector listed on the international site.

It will be a long time, if ever, before the DHF truly goes away. The DHF is available in 20, 24, 26, 27.5, and 29” diameters, a couple width options, and endless spec permutations between compound and casing. It would take years, literally, to move all those specs over to the DHX tread.
