4/7/2026 7:13am The remaining RockShox forks and shocks are finally officially live: Zeb - https://www.vitalmtb.com/forums/hub/2027-rockshox-zeb-fork-tech-info-im… Lyrik and Super Deluxe - https://www.vitalmtb.com/features/first-look-my27-rockshox-lyrik-fork-a… Vivid - https://www.vitalmtb.com/product/guide/rear-shocks/rockshox/vivid-ultim… There is a lot of trickle down tech that was first released with Boxxer and Vivid Coil. My time has been most spent on the new Zeb, and it's been really really impressive. So much grip, really light off the top and easy on the hands, new ABO adjustment is really useful and impactful, and the fork has felt the same day in and day out. It's definitely linear, so has a different feel. More muted and calm...

3/26/2026 4:34am I'm afraid that I can't offer much info about the Cane Creek Kitsuma Air Gen 1, but I've been riding the Kitsuma Air Gen 2 on my Specialized Turbo Levo 3 since the beginning of this year. It replaced a very tired Fox Float X. After getting the Kitsuma Air on the bike, I installed & followed the Cane Creek Shock Tuner app on my phone. Took me about 8 or 9 laps in a single session on one of my favorite trails where I ride my e-bike to get the shock dialed in. The ride quality even before making...

3/26/2026 3:51am Disclaimer, I am very opinioned about suspension upgrades and setup, so take my comments with a grain of salt. On the other hand, playing with suspension setups on various frames of my own and my friends (as well as on other vehicles) would qualify in my top 5 as a tangent hobby to mountain biking. I do not believe you will see much, if any improvement by going to a different air shock with an off the shelf (what is provided as retail aftermarket) tune. I have upgraded the shock on a few transitions, and I have not had an...

3/20/2026 5:47am A lot of people use these kinds of bikes for XC races. Some races like XCOs probably no one carries anything. Other races like Moab Rocks probably most people are carrying something on at least one of the days because the risk of a flat tire is so high racing mostly blind with XC tires in Moab. Other races like BCBR require you to carry certain things (but they don’t enforce it). The big advantage of the on bike storage vs just having everything in your jersey pocket/camelbak is it helps keep you cooler, which keeps your performance up. Like...

3/18/2026 8:06am I have a V1 Druid S2 and my 185mm BikeYoke is fully slammed so the cable housing bottoms out to be at the right height at full extension. Definitely a downside that longer droppers don't fit. Although that probably shouldn't matter as much on a Reya. Most people probably don't need quite as long a dropper on a light trail bike. It does seem strange to put such a large seatpost bend in a Horst link bike though.

3/18/2026 8:06am One of the problems with Forbidden I keep hearing about is seat post insertion depth. Those pictures dont look too promising for much of an improvement. Looks like a sick bike otherwise. if I hadn't just built up a smuggler this would probably be near the top of the list.

3/18/2026 7:59am I have an Ochain on my Slayer and got a set of DEG hubs, just for this tuning and to see how they compare. Will report here when the time comes. Not rushing anywhere, but I realized I'm having this issue: I got a set of pink 350 hubs for a good online deal and figured I'll build a new wheelset for the DH/park bike I'm planning: I though the front 350 hub is the same as most: swap end caps from 15 mm and put them to 20 mm. But no, they are different hubs and the 20 mm...

3/18/2026 7:48am I have two sets of Reserve wheels with DEG DF hubs. One carbon frysauce and one AL SL. One is on my 180/170 Madonna with the 20 degree setting and one is on my 160/140 Trek Fuel EX in 10 degree setting. I have also had OChain on the Madonna so I can compare the two. Climbing: DF in 20 degree setting has a LOT of free play and it very odd when trying to rachet pedals especially in bigger cassette gears. The free play has no resistance and can be compared to having one of their 18T rachets with...

3/18/2026 7:35am @sprungmass pretty much nailed it. I have 2 bikes in my rotation that have ochains and just recently tried a deg-df kit in the only deg dt350 hub I have in my families fleet of bikes. The degdf kit is 90% as good imo. I prefer the ochain over the degdf, but the ochain is a pain, maintenance heavy, physically heavy, has chainring limitations etc etc. As is noted, the deg-df will bottom out with a hard clank in certain situations. In practice, this only happens rarely and 9/10, it happens because the user is pedaling squares like a muppet...

3/18/2026 7:35am Other than the engagement feel, really can't a difference between both when it comes to descending. They both mitigate pedal kickback and let your suspension work more freely. If you have a DEG hub then get the DF kit. If you are in the market for a new wheelset with DEG DF then Reserve wheels is a killer cost effective option. If you already have a solid wheelset then get OChain. Also if you like to run a smaller <30T chain ring on a big heavy enduro bike then DT/e13 sidekick are really the only options. Lastly, servicing OChain is...

3/18/2026 6:11am You're an amateur. I carry a ton of tools, but every other year or so something goes so horribly wrong I STILL have to walk back to the car. Bikes are pretty good though. My proudest trailside repair was actually roadside...blew a shifter cable 40 miles from home on a cold February day on my gravel bike. I had an extra cable in my little revelate gas tank bag. Fixed it, rode home.
