They use a sprag clutch and that's how they work. And they are heavy.

High level DH racing as a sport is more akin to world cup alpine downhill ski racing than all these other sports it's compared to (F1, moto-whatever) in my opinion, and can maybe get to that eventual level. It's not all that relatable to the public at a high level, requires a high level of technology, money and training, but you can still go by a lift pass and participate as a punter at the local hill. Does a successful end result mean DH gets the occasional in-season Saturday mid-day timeslot on your favorite mass sports market TV provider, like...

That's because some people struggle to understand its "world" cup which should feature tracks, terrains, and riding styles from around the world. Every track shouldn't be your favorite. It should be a challenge to adapt. They are pros. I personally can't relate to the big alpine tracks. I grew up riding east coast rocks and roots.

There's a bit more going on with the Wiggle CRC side of things - their parent company SSU had a contract for 3 years of funding (covering 2022-2025 from memory) revoked out of the blue at the start of this week by their parent company. SSU owned a lot of e-commerce/retail brands in different sectors in different countries. The factors you mentioned will undoubtedly be playing a part, but their parent company are effectively pulling funding to shore up their real estate and other business ventures. Their owner has a slightly... "controversial" history for doing this kind of thing. Google...

Kyle Strait and DJ Brandt posting that they’re out of work due to the whole Wiggle/Chainreaction fiasco. I’d imagine Sam Hills looking for a team as well.

Trek would never let him race with a different manufactures helmet. That would put them in breach of contract of their commitment to 100% which would most likely give 100% the right to request their investment back from Trek which is mostly like tens of thousands of dollars. Trek prioritized a title sponsor over Kade who was likely on his way out anyways and Kade prioritized RedBull. Cant really blame either party.

Really nice hearing the judges thought process and what gets emphasized. suppose we all see it differently, can’t disagree bearclaw knows better than me. What I like is creativity in lines, which Bienve and Brendog had in spades. I loved how Bienve used the most of the mountain, as opposed to just high risk fall line down it. I think if Rampage is going to be sustainable and not just a high risk huckfest that results in a riders death/permanent injury, creative use of the mountain should be prioritized.

All contracts are structured that way. 100% sponsor the team to wear their products. A rider not complying puts the team in breach of contract and so they cannot let it happen. My take- Kades deal with Trek was always based on exposure not results. Could he be a top 10 guy-absobloodylutely. But he knows how much work and dedication it takes (he sees how much work Tahnee does) and tbh he much prefers dicking about on his bmx/trials/ebike than going to the gym 5 days a week (because he told me). Trek were ok with this but maybe this...

Not sure if any level of comparison is fair, but here's a look at the top 20ish males who competed in the World Surf League Championship Tour this year, their total event earnings and how many events they competed in. WSL has a fair amount of outside sponsorship from Corona, 805 Beer as presenting sponsors. Apple Watch, Yeti, etc. but these prize purses for events are wild. WSL shells out almost $1M in prize money for each championship tour event (Men's & Women's combined). I think WCDH athletes give way more risk compared to WSL world tour guys. Their events...

Huge discounts on Fox 38s here in Australia, better than half price in some cases. Are they simply overstocked or is there a new 38 coming?

As a fluent French speaker who lived in France for 14 years, I can offer a bit of context. The “gypsy” term is basically used interchangeably with “camper”, not intended as a slur but more of a funny way of describing anybody living out of a van for a while…it obviously gets lost in translation here.
