This is the most logical thinking that I have seen in the e-bike vs bike naming debate. I'm 100% on board with this. E-Moped or E-Ped are the only terms I am accepting at this point. Who's with me? lol

I'm sure there is a better thread for this 'discussion' but 'e-bikes' already have a name that clearly differentiates them from 'bikes' so there is no need to rename 'bikes' in any way or form.

Low slung is one thing, but having linkage pieces hanging out UNDER the BB will surely be a massive turn off to some people.

If not Angel, i wonder if Charlie Harrison could be making comeback. He was testing with fox factory at crestline this week on the frameworks bike. I know he’s giving neko feedback, but slightly surprising he’d be out testing with fox if he wasn’t racing. Jackson was also out there, so it wasn’t like they were testing with non-racers. Charlie seems to be enjoying his retirement, so maybe not, but would be cool to see him back out there.

Right to repair. I don't see it mentioned here other than sorta in @TEAMROBOT comment about dumping it before repair is an issue. I've got a mid-drive e-kit on my family hauler cargo commuter and I've been into it several times to repair it, I can order all the individual parts from China to repair it. These things aren't rocket surgery, it's an electronic board, a motor, some bearings and gears. Sure the average joe might not have an arbor press and the dies but it should be possible for a competent shop to repair these things. Make the electronics...

Honest question for e-bike buyers: What's your long term ownership strategy when you buy an e-bike? 1. You're planning to sell it within a year and buy a new one so you don't get stuck with expensive (or impossible) repair problems. 2. You're hoping the e-bike will still have a reasonable resale value at the end of a more normal MTB ownership timeframe, like three years. 3. You will ride this very expensive e-bike until you turn it into garbage. You're fully expecting to be the last owner and to eat the entire $6-15k purchase price when the motor or...

For me it is all about the range. I can go out on 2+ hour rides on my regular bike and have a lot of fun. I have an Intense Tazer with the 500w battery, I was lucky to ride it for 1.5 hours, sure I was covering more ground in a shorter amount of time, but I wanted more. I picked up an Orbea Wild this year with the 750w battery and 3+ hour rides are no problem. I ride mostly in emtb mode but will switch it based on the section of trail. The bike is heavy but...

Where I live now there are a ton of moto trails that'd be great on an e-bike. But I won't even consider one until the aftermarket support improves significantly. In my mind a used E-bike is worth essentially nothing, because if you have motor or battery issues you are SOL. Which also makes buying a new one less attractive because it's difficult to sell. I want to be able to tear into it and replace individual components in the motor if they go bad or wear out from normal use. I don't send my stuff anywhere and I'm not willing...

Should influencers and YouTubers be included in team rumours? I don’t care what product they talk about. Be nice to keep this to teams and racing talk.

On the one hand, I'm the same age and body type as Sam, yet I reckon I look much fitter despite doing a maximum of 6 hours riding a week on an ebike (and 40 hours sitting at a desk). But on the other hand, some dudes just look like that despite training, looks at Danny Hart for example, he can look like a dude who lives in a pub, yet is still a podium threat.

Pretty disheartening to see all of these athletes without a ride but to be honest I’m surprised any brands are fielding an EDR team at this point. Zero coverage last year and sounds like 2024 will be its last season. Why would you pump cash into a sinking ship? Separately I wonder how old Chris Ball is feeling about all this? Yes probably not too badly on his big pile of cash but there must be some conflicting emotions seeing as EWS was his baby for an entire decade.

https://www.pinkbike.com/news/sram-patent-shows-smarter-built-in-shockw… I knew this one coming, it felt like Shockwiz and Flight Attendant were both Proof of Concept products before they would be combined and integrated into suspension products. Going out on a limb here...I could see the future of this tied to your Garmin/GPS computer, the same way I download Routes from RidewithGPS or Trail Forks and load them on my Garmin before I ride new trail systems, you'll also be able to download settings/tune for a specific trail. In the AXS app, you'll program in your height, weight, frame, wheel size, tires, and riding style. The ShockWiz will...

Demanding wasn't the best word. I didn't mean it to say SHE was demanding a paid salary. I'm saying that signing a top 3 or top 5 (Yeti expectation) woman for the 2023 season would require a salary. I do think that her adding the performance thing is flaming Yeti a bit. Most riders are not re-signed or let go because the didn't reach performance expectations (be it results or social media) and you never hear/see riders posting that in their 'goodbye/contract termination posts'. It's a reality for all riders, but seeing them put it in a post, makes people...

I believe the only other non-ebike enduro racer for Yeti last season was Slawomir Lukasik. He hasn't announced he was dropped, but he's not a known name and is probably just getting his gear and travel paid for (AKA cheap to have on roster). Bex on the other hand, probably was demanding a real contract/salary. Maybe they hired her with expectation of multiple podiums and top 3 overall and she didn't hit that mark. And g iven the state of the market, they're cutting her contract just to be able to afford Ritchie and maybe pay for the new DH...

You're right that it might not seem that bad compared to other sports. But if you then look at the prize money these world cups pay out, it's neigh impossible for all Elite Mtb Teams (Max 15 if I'm correct) to break even on prize money to match their spendings on the fee. So yes, 23K is much less than F1's 700K entry fee for example, But I'm not aware of many high-level sports where being a top10 team in the world doesn't get you your entry fee back. Anyway, I hope there's gonna be some positive developments in the...
