Kove Motorcycles and ZXMOTO, also from China have scored wins in Dakar Rally, and World Supersport. A lot of people thought that Chinese companies would never do well in competitive racing series, but that's not the case anymore.

If the price is right China is going to start eating Taiwan's lunch big time in the bike market. Frame design for pedal bikes has plateaud super hard at this point. All the big hype lately has been about components/EEB Motors rather than new bike releases.

@Glory831Guy - even then, you can retune a shock easier than deal with a poorly thought out or manufactured frame.

True, but nowdays it's not necessarily gonna be one or the other. You could have two frames with the same tolerances and similar strength, and one of them has the better shock tune, so you like it more, that's all I'm saying. I would be surprised if there was a significant difference in frame stiffness/Kinematics with the same suspension layout...
I'm not talking about damper architecture, Charger 2.1 vs 3.1. I'm talking about the individual tune that the bike manufacturer puts on the stock bike. The shock can have the same eye to eye and stroke dimensions + same Charger 3.1 damper, but one frame OEM uses medium compression tune, and a different frame OEM uses a light compression tune...
I’d love to see a shoot out of trail bikes using the same linkage designs. It would really interesting to start to dig a bit deeper as to what sets them apart - quality control, kinematics, maintenance, etc etc.

Whichever bike has the best damper tune specced probably wins at that point. I'm pretty sure that's a big deciding factor between bikes with different linkage designs also though. You would need control wheels, and tires at a minimum, and probably drivetrain also to get any useful data about which frame works better.

Who's going to run Frog Wake brakes on their Guard Dog 2? C'mon, you know you want to! https://www.vitalmtb.com/features/shanghai-bike-show-2026.

I thought those brakes were cable actuated when I first looked at the picture.. I used to own a 2010ish Giant STP with cable disk brakes, and that bike did stoppies easier than my enduro bike with Codes and about equal to my other bike with Saints. I don't even know why bike OEM's bother with lower spec hydro brakes...

Norco Norco had their new Sight VLT Bosch A with Bosch PX motor front and center. The A1 model with Deore Di2 is $6,599 while the A3 with DVO suspension and CUES drivetrain is priced at just $4,799. The motor delivers 90Nm of torque, 700W max power, and 400% support, and while we haven't ridden it yet (a test bike will be coming soon), reports are that it's quieter than the current CX. It's nice to a see an ebike price tag starting with 4 instead of 14.

Still lots of Trances, Stances, Revolts, and Propels wherever you go. Not as many Reigns and Glories nowdays, but the more you look, the more you'll find. I always find my own limits way before the bike I'm riding, so Giant is A.O.K. in my book! Braaap!

I own 2 Giant bikes. They used to be everywhere and every second bike was a Giant. Nowadays I hardly see any. What happened to the Giant of cycling.

I just hope all the light/medium technical trails survive this XC Renaissance 32" madness. Ever since gravel bikes got popular, it seems like it has become standard practice to turn any non black diamond trail into a dirt version of a paved road. Kind of seems like everything is either a flow trail/fire road or the gnar gnar these days...
