The riding styles in general look a lot more like BMX to me. Lots of pre-jumping and hucking over stuff vs today where guys can just float over all the small and medium sized bumps/rocks without slowing down.

Glory831Guy Added a reply to Patrol front/rear travel setup

Max travel at either end, as long as the bike feels balanced. It's never gonna feel super-zippy uphill, so you might as well make the bike super capable downhill. Reducing travel might help on the climbs, but IMO, that's kind of pointless on a big bike like the Patrol. By the way, how did you make the rear travel 170...

I wouldn't be surprised if they are getting rid of all the old Grip 2 dampers by upgrading all the Marzocchi stuff. That HSC adjuster looks new, but the Grip 2 HSC only has 6 clicks of adjustment and would almost be better off having a rotary dial like that. Possibly they just added a new looking adjuster for the...

Seems DH fans are expecting a lot out of a niche sport. There's not that many sports where the athletes make direct money from TV revenue. Sadly, for now, the only way we can help riders "make more money" from being on TV is by tuning in. It's a salary sport, and good salaries for top riders. It's not a prize money sport (luckily for the riders) and not a TV revenue sport, cos the previous TV provider probably didn't make huge money from their free streaming model. So expecting riders and teams to get.money from TV revenue in year...

Everybody: "It's the rider, not the bike" Also everybody: "Rider X's results sucked when they were on brand X because that bike sucked" Back to team rumors: A particular 2023 Spanish team rider discussed in recent posts, may be spending a lot more time in the land of freedumb. Specifically, in an area (regionally) known for it's extra large heaping portion of freedumb (which was still not enough for a certain rider because other states have way morerer freedumb).

It's still not rocket science, no matter how much we love to think it is- and I need about them as much as anyone else. Save for extreme choices like Unno most frames are pretty similar in geometry, and most of the are prototypes anyway with a wide range of adjustment. You could go to a different team and still have the same bike as last year, geometry wise... Could Brook jump a few spots on the board with a different bike? Maybe, but he's no making podiums, no matter the bike, be it a V10 or a Demo

Battery for your brakes, battery for your dropper, battery for your drive train. Sounds like a big ole pointless pain in the butt. Electric shifting I'm not totally against because I see how that could actually work better than cable actuated systems, but brakes and droppers are already flawless for how I use them. The 'benefits' of this technology are...

I've had avid brakes fail on me on 2 different bikes, one a rental while coming downhill in Topanga CA, the other my Camber Pro in Kansas. In Ks it was an annoyance but I finished the ride. In Ca I went over a berm and cartwheeled down a hill. So fuck anything that adds more complexity to brakes. Think about your Bluetooth phone, it connects to your car without issue everyday for a year. Then out of nowhere you have to reset the phone, or the car, or both. This is a stupid idea and whoever thought of it...

Assuming the axle to crown is only about an inch difference at most, we're looking at quite a small change in bb height, definitely not enough to ruin your ride. Playing around with your suspension would make a more noticeable difference.

He also would have won if he hadn't flatted in either Andorra or Snowshoe, strongest rider this year by far imo.

If Jackson Goldstone didn't have his appendix issue this year he probably would have won the overall title, and people wouldn't be questioning SC's decision. The Kid absolutely wiped the floor with the competition at the last round, which at his age is pretty insane. If Pierron can't stay healthy in the coming years, I honestly don't see anyone giving...

Update, actual trail ride review: I cut 11/16 (17.5mm) off each end of the handlebar to make it right at 30" (762mm) wide. It now fits me much better, never liked the super wide bars. I think I'll actually run the stock stem for now, narrowing the bars really help the whole bike feel better. My first trail ride was a 7 mile prairie trail with short (1/8-1/4 mile) steep climbs/drops with some sand, hard clay, rocks, and occasional root. The base that's 80% of the trail is hard pack clay. This was my first e-mtb bike ride and I'm...

I'm really interested in this bike, seems like an awesome value at its current price. How tall are you, and what size frame did you buy? The sizing chart on their website seems to recommend sizing up for most people based on the reach numbers provided. I realize the seat angle is steeper than my last bike, but 490 reach...

Glory831Guy Added a comment about feature Vital Test Sessions - Intense Tracer 279

Progressive springs are definitely overkill on modern enduro bikes. I increased progression a bunch on my Reign with a Cascade link, and I experienced the same kind of harshness you guys did on the 279. A straight-rate spring remedied the problem, and has the rear end working better than I ever imagined it would.

I'd bet it's just Loic riding off-season with a standard shock so he doesn't need to worry about hiding the unreleased Ohlin's tech.
