7/23/2024 11:53am Seems like horrible timing for the first gen of ultra premium, wireless only pedal bikes to be released. The industry has been practically giving away bikes for the last year, and now they're gonna try and upsell with more expensive builds? Doesn't seem like it'll work out for everyone, and some models might flop IMO.

7/21/2024 10:25pm I personally don't feel like a totally new Enduro is necessary, but if some kind of mullet setting isn't available on the stock bike, that will be a big mistake and hurt sales. The bike isn't even the first choice of the factory team in its namesake series, so realistically, they're not going to rush a new version to market...

7/10/2024 10:57pm I stumbled upon a first ride review of the new Lapierre while queuing up a late-night ASMR vid. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=6l04t-u_seE&pp=ygUUTG9hbSB3b2xmIGZpcnN0IH…

7/9/2024 3:31pm Sounds like factory teams in Le Mans over the years. Manufacturers come in after a rule change, spend big bucks (yearly budgets were passing 200 million a year for Audi and Porsche around 2016), sooner or later someone starts dominating and the rest pull the plug. Only to be left with one factory team vs. a bunch of privateers. And then the cycle repeats. Private teams are the backbone of racing overall as their sole business is racing, it's not just a marketing expense at the whim of boards of directors, budget cuts and overall financial outlook of the world.

7/9/2024 6:51am Seeing the new Gambler out in the open made me contemplate company strategies; Curious that they don’t put it to the test at the World Cup first. It’s definitely been a trend lately to have your prototyping done at the highest level. Norco/Specialized/Intense for example. Other companies do their prototyping and testing in the off-season. I don’t get pumped on spy photos like I used to (building hype) but I wonder what strategy is better for their bottom line/sales?

7/9/2024 7:19am I feel like companies being super-competitive and hyper focused on racing is always cyclical. They hire the best riders and go for titles for a bit, then they pump the brakes and rest on their laurels so to speak. Time goes by and they hire some new top tier riders and go all out again. Given the current market, I'm...

7/6/2024 10:51am I noticed that too. I think it's DVO suspension with WP's settings though, like the GasGas eebs.

7/4/2024 3:42pm So they had a gravel trap on the test track for this very reason, I was able to test on paved road and gravel, worked equally well in both situations. I had to do a few runs on the gravel as I didn't trust the ABS, once I had the confidence to brake really hard it was faultless. Obviously flat ground is not representative of real world trail use, so would be keen to use it in anger on some proper trails.

7/4/2024 1:46pm Was this on a dirt surface, or pavement? I would imagine it feels a bit funny, maybe a bit 'weaker' on loose surfaces like mud and gravel.

7/4/2024 11:22am Sure, anything is possible. If you read between the lines, what I'm saying is we are entering into (or have entered into) a different era as is reflected by the development over the last 4-5 years, the trends and what is currently being released. IE - I'd be more inclined to say bikes are going to follow more of a line of dirt bikes, skis and golf clubs than they will the B200 vs H100. I'm just about to post a long blog post (cringe) on this exact topic where I delineate Moore's Law from the rest of technology. In...

7/2/2024 9:17pm It's not that simple though either. Just because someone has money, that doesn't mean that they automatically consider the newest product the "latest and greatest." They could just as easily consider high end cable drive trains to be superior because they save weight. I'm sure there's plenty of wealthy riders that will only run XX1, or XTR on their bikes...

7/2/2024 9:39am Are they going to release an aluminum frame version of the new Stumpy at some point? Seems like a pretty solid bike all around, although $5,500 is pretty high for a 'base' model these days.

6/28/2024 2:07pm I might have to give these a go. Assegai up front, and a "fast rolling" Vigilante out back have been my go to for years, but WTB hasn't had fast rolling 27.5's in stock for a loooong time now. I should have bought 20 instead of 8 when REI was blowing them out.

6/22/2024 11:26pm I have a lot of respect for Dave. He cracked open up this can of worms and shouldn't have been surprised to get pushback on that statement. Very much to his credit, the Super Deluxe Air is regarded as an excellent product and possibly the most durable shock on the market. I trust it, it's what I run. " What I find even more interesting are all the internet trends getting driven by a small vocal group of people, sometimes with merit, other times as snake oil. The power of placebo is a helluva drug, and we certainly tend to...

Italian suspension specialist EXT has been on a roll recently, introducing new products and updating existing models regularly. The Storia (enduro) and Arma (DH) coil shocks have now been given a complete overhaul, with plenty of new features added and further construction improvements implemented. We’ve had the Storia V4 on a test bike for a few weeks now, keep reading to learn all about the changes and find out what we think of it on the trail. EXT Storia V4 Highlights PSR (Position Sensitive Rebound) - hydraulic top-out system that eliminates harsh top out and improves sensitivity High and...

6/22/2024 3:57pm IMO it's hard to argue that there isn't a design flaw when DVO, Fox, and Zoke won't honor their normal warranty on those bikes... VS every other bike where it isn't a problem. And even if something catastrophic doesn't happen with an air shock or "approved" coil shock, the bike is going to wear out parts at an accelerated rate...

6/14/2024 12:38am Definitely old news, but the number of privateers running ohlins, per G Out Project is impressive. https://youtu.be/GBcRBOikb8c?si=EaC3pvLoX5xy7qdc
