11/6/2024 11:29pm Tire rumors, brake rumors, and Rocky/Norco rumors back in effect. Been about six months since I've seen a Slayer though, lol. Do people still buy Canadian bikes?. I asked some local dealers about them during the Pandemic, and they said they stopped selling them because of bad frame tolerances, and crap warrantee support.

11/2/2024 9:31am Feels like you can say that about any brand that's not the Big 3 at this point though.. Look at the recent press release from Deviate.. Any company that can't continue to sell under MSRP is basically screwed with people giving away all their Covid era outdoor gear.

10/23/2024 7:06pm One of the millions of companies selling billet pedals and stems should start selling spacers for 29er forks that optimize geo for 27.5 front wheels. I've heard of many pro riders using these, but I'm not aware of any company currently selling them.

10/15/2024 3:34pm Yeah, I didn't really understand any of those graphs prior to buying a Cascade link. I didn't commit to buying it before I understood the changes it would be making, based on their comparison graphs. They aren't too hard to wrap your head around, but I feel like they aren't super intuitive either, especially when peoples' graphs have different scales...

10/15/2024 3:13pm You can get that info from rate curve graphs. It shows the starting rate. The smaller the number, in terms of rate so say .333, the less force required to activate the suspension. If you're reading a ratio graph, then it's the larger the number, like 3 which is the inverse of the above. That only tells part of the story though because force at rear wheel graphs are a more complete picture for suspension activation because that includes the shock's spring rate. This still excludes the behavior exhibited by the shock tune. Overall progression percentage can be calculated by...

10/15/2024 12:34pm With suspension kinematics converging in the Crab Quadrant, I'm surprised that companies aren't touting minimum brakeaway force figures. Force to get everything moving, lateral rigidity, and overall progression would give me a better idea of how a bike really feels vs a bunch of graphs-IMO. Of course you can get more info from all those graphs, but they don't seem...

10/9/2024 3:48pm Apparently I struck a nerve. Good news is there are plenty of DH bikes with old Boxxers, and enduro bikes with 21'-23' X2's for you guys to pony up to, since they are such awesome products.

10/9/2024 3:13pm Just reminds me too much of my MX days where every ad for a Kawasaki, or Suzuki two stroke mentions a recent top end, and or bottom end/clutch and that's out of necessity because they really are garbage compared to Honda/Yamaha. Browse some listings for DH forks. I guarantee you'll see more more people mentioning they just rebuilt their Boxxer...

10/9/2024 2:36pm I used to do a lot of Downduro riding on my Glory, and that's what I would do on a new DHer, so a bit of extra flex might even be desirable on the way up the hill. What really turned me off on the old Boxxer was the amount of listings where people specifically mentioned that they had rebuilt...

10/9/2024 2:24pm Agree, everything goes out the window when talking DH forks. The torsional stiffness of the 35mm boxxer feels great due to the double crown and 20mm axle and wider set stanchions, but the bending stiffness is arse and it really affects the plushness and steering. They feel a bit shit compared to 38s or 40s when you've put a big old curve in the stanchions in a g-out and totally misaligned the sliding surfaces in the bushings, and wildly fucked with your offset. I had some old boxxers on my Tues and being very long travel and very progressive in...

10/9/2024 9:59am "That’s why a 38mm single crown works like crap compared to a 35mm dual crown fork." 35mm dual crown fork 🤮 I always casually browse the used bike listings for DH bikes I don't really need.. After seeing this pic in the G Out Project, anything with an oldschool boxxer is immediatley ruled out unless the bike is a screaming...

If you're looking for a bigger bike with a BMX feel, maybe check out Kona. And don't be afraid to slap an angleset on a bike to steepen the HTA on a bike. Super slack bikes just wanna hug the ground and eat up your pop IMO.

9/25/2024 1:05pm I noticed that too, but it might just work given that all the gears are inside the rear hub and the chainline is always straight. My guess is they were targeting "perfect" levels of antisquat in every gear with the transmission being in the rear hub like that.🤔 Is that how all that works? IDK, lol

9/24/2024 11:21pm I saw these forks on a newly released Honda Electric trials motorcycle. Showa 39mm stanchions, 190mm travel. Could we see them available for downhill bikes one day?

9/24/2024 11:20pm Speaking of Moto suspension on MTB's... Yamaha had some very trick looking KYB suspension on their EMTB at the Japan Mobility Show in 2023. I think I'll pass on the EPS power steering though.

9/16/2024 4:02pm This just seems like a generic overview of the different racing disciplines. Where are you guys seeing that they changed the rules?
