3/10/2025 7:47pm I think most of the answers above weren't answering Glory's actual question. From his own response, I think he means from the perspective of the person buying a company, which would you rather have? This is a thread about companies after all, not about products. The legacy brands have value in name recognition, so even if the new offerings are nothing special, people who don't follow the current market will still buy them. As a consumer who is following MTB, legacy means little, and I would prefer to buy what I think I really want. But if I were to...

3/9/2025 3:36pm I'm not sure if that makes the current bikes any better. That would depend on what specific model we're talking about, and spec levels ect. A brand's legacy can make it a lot easier to sell to non 'core' mountain bikers though for sure. A well known brand can rest on their laurels a little bit, whereas a brand like...

3/8/2025 6:14pm At the end of the day, that's really what someone is buying; Brand Recognition. Would you rather... 1) Fezzari to Ari 2) Rebirth of Nukeproof 3) Rebirth of Kona 🤔

3/8/2025 3:30pm They also made decent wheelsets, and stems, bars ect. So they have IP for every part of a bike except for suspension and drivetrain. That's just about as much IP as any bike company is gonna have. Very few companies actually have anything "revolutionary." Most of the time it's just something hyped up that bored consumers are foaming at the...

2/28/2025 6:31pm The Vorsprung shock is somewhat similar to a CC Double Barrel in that they are both twin tube designs like Ohlins pioneered. The Telum has the most interesting design out of the bunch with a solid main piston and very unique means of adjusting the compression and rebound damping curves. It wins "showroom feel" as well, I have never felt a shock so supple and smooth. Perhaps a twin tube shootout with Cane Creek, Ohlins, Fox DHX2, and Telum? We're just getting started, big plans for the future. 👍

2/28/2025 4:27pm Looks like an interesting test for sure! I know there are tons of brands out there for suspension nowadays, so the options are pretty much endless... That said I was pretty blown away by the performance of a Cane Creek Double Barrel on my first downhill bike. They liscenced the tech from Ohlins, so maybe an Ohlins or Cane Creek...

2/9/2025 8:10pm In DH racing there are many different designs that can win races, and honestly with that much suspension travel, the frame can be designed to work better in certain areas that you feel is more beneficial to your overall speed through rough sections and jumps. In XC racing all the designs are already converging much more because it's all about...

2/8/2025 7:32pm There's probably zero chance this 'spec series' ever happens on Enduro/Downhill bikes, but I could definitely see it happening in the XC world. The Lycra Crab Cometh!

2/8/2025 7:28pm I think frame tyres and suspension would be enough to make it a "stock" series. Brakes would be a hard one, as some riders are so picky and have so much experience on some brakes vs others, that it would inevitably disadvantage people swapping for incredibly touchy saints/maguras to the spongy feel of SRAM brakes for instance (not hating on SRAM here, just highlighting a point).

2/6/2025 6:10pm Those are privately owned resorts, I'm talking about public trails. I've seen better features and jumps on public trails in Arkansas, than the million miles of sterilized blue trails that make up the 'sanctioned' trails in CA. at least they have dedicated, bike specific trails that are public property. CA is too chicken s%$t to do that, even though bikes...

2/5/2025 3:37pm Props to Arkansas actually building legit features and jumps though. CA could improve quite a bit in that regard IMO.

2/5/2025 12:31pm Nobody is forcing these Manufacturers to participate. They can stay home if they don't feel like their equipment is up to the task. They COULD, and in Pivot's case, probably should be more thoroughly dyno testing their frames after their last high profile bike failure. You mentioned Evel Knievel and Harley Davidson... That combo of bike and rider was indeed...

1/4/2025 5:22pm Someone should tell Manitou how wrong it is for them to sell boatloads of Dorado's to Surron owners. I would be extremely surprised if they actually sold more to the MTB market at this point. A big suspension company would have to be pretty clueless to ignore the e-moto market at this point tbh.
Glory831Guy Added a comment about video Giant Reign Advanced Pro Year-Long Review
12/31/2024 8:57am Nice Review! I've always ridden Giants because you can consistently find lightly used ones much cheaper than the asking price for "cool" brand bikes. That said, I wish Giant would bring more mid/high spec Aluminum bikes to the U.S. again, as those bikes make more sense to the average rider, IMO. The aluminum Trance X SX has better spec for the money than the Reign does currently, so hopefully they improve the build on the Reign 2 also.

12/25/2024 5:54pm Just get a 27.5 enduro bike.. You can over-fork it/mullet it later, and just slide the saddle forward to fix the slack seat angle. It will only be about as overbuilt and slack as future trailbikes are, so pretty goldilocks. only "downsides" will be slightly higher bb (not really a downside) and you have to run a 50mm stem if...
