The 8-hour training actually makes perfect sense if you think about it. If you’re going to force a 12-year-old to commute electrically assisted/throttled in a 6-inch painted gutter next to 5,000lb distracted SUVs going 50mph, they probably need Stroad-warrior level tactical training. Why build a protected bike path for $1M when you can just blame the kids for not having a Ebike Safety Certificate while they dodge F-150s?

I sold a few item to Canada from my side-business, shipped by UPS. The process was ridiculous. They would quote the tariffs just fine, but they couldn't give a quote for Brokerage fees. I kept a spreadsheet of past tariffs and fees from the few times I sold across the border just to estimate costs, but it never really lined...
I'm between a small and a medium, with relatively short arms and legs. I generally size down to a small for my enduro / all-mountain bikes, since I like riding slower techy stuff. But when I go to bike parks, the bike starts feel a bit small on the fast open flowy trails. My wife is the same height as...

No problem, I didn't take your message as aggressive. I have to say I was expecting more "sporting" questions, like who is DragonSpeed, why a sportscars racing team is coming to DH, what are our goals etc. Regarding Thibaut, we discussed about this with him and the partners. You can imagine I am not the only one to be convinced and to decide. We chose the riders together, and the partners are happy with all of our 4 riders, including Thibaut. We had no potential sponsor that said "no" because he is on. Thibaut brings performance, I think we all...

Trying to write a less aggressive version of the question above, regarding allegations about Thibault: As far as I know, he has not been convicted of any wrongdoing, but the matter is not exactly settled. Assuming the team is not self-funded, the sponsors probably have more interest in this issue than the team manager. So even if the team manager...

My only requirement for the first pedal bikes was hand brakes. No reason to learn one braking style, just to relearn on the next bike. Plus getting the pedals re-centered when getting started is easier. At 4 years old, you don't really need disc brakes yet. One thing I didn't think about much with my first one is that pedaling...

You're very entitled to your own opinion, but I didn't hear the same contradictions you did. I've re-listened multiple times this morning and I still can't hear it the way you have. I heard Markus say they knew they were facing tough times but weren't expecting the PE firm to get to a point where they aren't willing to inject cash. The Fire Sale was an effort to get through that specific period without having to ask for more cash. That failed and then they were told 'no more'. As for your previous point, it's not exactly clear to me...

Hot take: we need less elites in finals (for men). I'd vote for 20 Elite Men, 15 (and eventually 20) Elite Women in Finals. Maybe not right this moment, but eventually. The current package is already a long watch, and they still don't capture entire runs of every rider. I think there is lot of potential with less racers to hone in on elevating each racers notoriety; potential to adjust the schedule to minimize track degradation and allow for safer speed increases throughout a weekend; and hopefully more money paid across the entire field. These changes feel very dependent on...

Everybody does this every year. They get new bikes from their sponsors, so they sell their old ones. Can we stop posting every time a pro sells a bike? It literally just means it's the end off the year.

What if the riders had to tick off everything in practice before throwing down a final run in competition? Anyone trying something for the first time in finals gets an instant point or ranking penalty. The riders would need to be certain they could reliably land their features and tricks and might be less inclined to take these huge do-or-die risks in their final run. There would still be progression with the athletes striving to make history, but it might lead to fewer roll of the dice moments.

The full ring is bolted to the crank spider, so the force of an impact goes through the bottom bracket bearing. On the taco style bash guard, the force goes directly into the frame. I realize that you get a similar impact force through the bearing if you bottom out the rear suspension, but in my memory this was one...

I understand that you are cuing in to some things that LLMs may be known for, but they do these things for a reason. I feel like the "it's not just X - it's Y" thing has been around for a long time in marketing. Maybe it just feels lazy now, or tired, but not just because of LLMs. Also...

Look, man, I'm also a rule follower. My wife gets mad when we play card games (or board games, or lawn games, or whatever) because I insist we play by the rules. But, the important part here is that I don't care what rules we play by as long as we all agreed to them before the game starts. We...

Why make that regulation? In elites it says above they will have 80 men and 40 women. That makes half the number of men. So why not have it be 30 junior women? Also, they make changes to small things like this all the time. Sometimes they make changes to the course after practice. Sometimes they change the schedule throughout...

True qualifying, at least for juniors. 60 jr men and 20 jr women into the finals. There were only 25 junior women in qualifying. So the question is: why not let those 5 women race? Can they not spare the 5 minutes in the schedule? Will it damage the track so much that racing won't be fair? Is there also...

Social views will include all social media platforms, long and short form. That 225M social is entirely plausible on that basis. Reminder: these kind of reach/views stats are actually more important for sponsors (especially non-endemic) rather than core fans as it feeds into paid/earned media views matrix. In terms of WBD cumulative channel views of racing, with 122M+ subscribers, 15M doesn't seem unreasonable, especially if you factor in clips appearing in other shows etc and if you're applying either YouTube's 30s or Meta's 3s threshold to count as a view. The smart team managers/owners/sponsorship heads will be building this into...

I agree there. Teams shouldn't be able to get points from a rider who wasn't riding for their team at the time. But they are designating this rider to be on their roster for this race, and it seems like the idea is to get that rider's points for this race. Thinking about it more like how fantasy leagues work...
