I guess it is done to accommodate the television production, to show the score with the rider in the finish corral, big drama and all, but it must suck to know that if you are one of the first few riders, no matter how well you lay down your run, it will be scored lower than it otherwise would have been if you'd had a better start position. Wow first I heard of Whitefish, but makes perfect sense. It feels like Whistler, Angel Fire, Trestle, Mammoth would have marginal gains vs the cost of putting on a World Cup. Where as a place that isn't quite on everyone's shortlist of destination mountain biking could quickly become a top tier destination with a good showing.

Snowshoe has a fine track. But i personally look forward to a new venue as it incentivizes me to spectate. Especially if it’s somewhere that can both hold a race and have a good number of trails open to public for riding. would definitely not mind snowshoe returning at some point either. I really enjoyed both years I went.
