2/20/2026 4:57pm Reach is an important number when considering a bike fit. I decided to go from 460mm to a bike with 478mm reach with the intention of gaining a little bit of stability. The only other change in setup was that I went from a 50mm stem to 40mm in order to make it not feel so big. I am 5'9". From day one I had an issue with front end grip with this larger size. I tried different stem spacers, from 25mm to 38mm rise bars, and then finally put on a 50mm stem to put more weight over the...

2/20/2026 4:56pm Since I've been reading all the comments, I wanted to clarify that there's a world of difference between these two genres of responses that keep popping up in this thread: "Previously I'd never ventured beyond the manufacturer's recommended size for my height, but then I tried sizing up and it's my preferred frame size now". vs. "I've tried many different frame sizes, including bikes that are bigger and smaller than recommended, and I'm pretty confident that I know what my preferred size is. However, I'm stuck choosing between two sizes on a bike I'm looking at, one that I know...

2/11/2026 2:15pm I actually agree with you that some riders can feel a 2mm difference in bar position. My comment didn't address what a rider can or can't feel, it addressed meaning. Meaning is the narrative that human beings attach to stimuli. Humans are, after all, narrative creatures. If I feel a 2mm difference, that doesn't automatically mean it's an important change. But if tell myself a story that the change is important, and if I believe that story, suddenly that change will become manifestly important to my bike riding and may even produce a measurable impact in performance. My soapbox issue...

2/10/2026 12:19pm I tried to work out the front/rear weight bias (corner weight) a while ago, but bought electronic scales that timed out most of the time before i could read them 🤣. I think my weight bias was around 8:1, 12kg front 79kg rear or something like that. This is one of the components you are fucking with if you shorten your stem and from my tests a 5mm change was 1-1.5kg different (quite a big difference). Sounds like Frameworks are onto measuring this (on an angle too) in the latest downtime podcast. For me stems are firstly about adjusting reach...

2/10/2026 12:16pm While stem length does impact steering feel a lot, I have always found that is of secondary importance to the ease of weighting the front wheel. Maybe I have a weird riding style or just a really strong preference for a lot of weight on the front wheel, but I find it tough to ride anything below a 45mm stem...

2/3/2026 12:59pm Terrain dependant for sure. The Radial Magic Mary is the best tire I’ve ridden for natural tech trails with lots of chatter and off cambers. Takes some getting used to on hard pack and bike park style terrain though (Conti are my fave here). The weird thing about the radial casing is I’d almost consider it more of a suspension...

1/15/2026 11:13am On the Trans Race topic, I did Trans Sierra Norte in 2024 and totally agree with Lars. It’s an unforgettable experience that I constantly find myself reflecting back on with major nostalgia. The Oaxacan trails are amazing and the camaraderie with the other racers really makes it. Meeting likeminded people from all around the world and sharing the experience is incredible. While the year I did it had some sketchy moments (like getting stuck on a one lane mountain road, blocked by a rockslide in a 1980s Mexican bus with bald tires, in the dark, in the rain…), the whole...

1/4/2026 6:53pm Regarding Moi Moi. Kind of hoping he as well as the rest of the enduro people start using the “Trans-X” races to have their own thing for bragging rights. Kind of what racing used to be in the first place. Don’t know if anyone else noticed, but he seems to have started following Forbidden in the last half of the year or so. Anyway Jack on a Druid or Dreaddy is a personal pipe dream. Just wish my calves weren’t so fat. I am keeping nosew parches in business during the winter and should probably shave my legs in Sunner...

1/4/2026 6:52pm I don't think that he couldn't find a ride, although being an enduro racer doesn't help right now, but he straight up said that he's burned out. It's a grind for those guys.. Training, traveling, and racing pretty much is your life. Jack seems like he needs a mental reset. That being said, he'll be an awesome ambassador for any brand...

1/4/2026 6:52pm Jacks announcement took a few of us by surprise last night. It's sad that one of the best riders in the world, arguably the most charismatic too is unable to secure a ride for next year and in some ways, coerced into retirement. I hope he finds a role somewhere, he would be a fantastic "face" of a company. The content would be top level. Jack is majorly responsible for MTB in Australia spreading so far, his influence on youngsters and his personal approach to grassroots racing that I have seen first hand is commendable. He truly is one of...

12/8/2025 9:46am I kinda feel like elites is a clean slate for the juniors, they'll be whatever banana they are based off of their results after the first few races. Max or Till would be the talk of the town if they were instantly beating their older team mates to podium spots. I'm thinking now though that it's actually someone like Nathan Pontvianne that is going to Norco, young, fast and french. I can't see commencal in general never mind the team letting either Alran go just yet.

12/1/2025 7:37am There will be a Pivot Factory Racing Team in 2026 and most of the sponsors seem to continue. Besides that, BK will be a Kawasaki UK ambassador. Source: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HA7aS7BaPyI

11/17/2025 11:36am So I have been on a multiple month trip through BC since mid August and can touch on all of this and hopefully it can help! Yes and no to both town and trail wise. I will do my best to explain it through the eyes of my wife and I. She shreds too and we bother prefer tech. Whistler is Whistler. Absolutely incredible for all the reasons. I will throw out a fun different one first. Don't sleep on Big White! It is such a freaking fun place to ride! It is a mere fraction of the size of...

10/13/2025 8:09pm There were a couple of clues in the live feed. As Kolb was climbing onto the stage whilst passing the race winning V10, Neko says " Is that his bike or Jacksons?", to which Rik replies "Careful!". In the interview Andi was asked why he was so happy to see Jackson beat Bruni. He gave a very diplomatic answer, which prompted Rik to say something like "He handled that question just as well as he handled his bike today". So I think Kolb to Syndicate is the done deal.

10/13/2025 8:07pm In Ed Masters recap video, he was talking to Sven about taking pictures of him with his new bike. And Masters said, you’ve Scott to be kidding me. Could be Masters just fucking with everybody though.

10/13/2025 8:06pm I’d love to see Kolb on the syndicate, seems like a great fit and Sven is practically their in house photographer. I wouldn’t be surprised to see Laurie moving on, maybe to Atherton bikes? I hope Mondraker keep things as they are and let that team continue building. From a marketing pov I don’t think they’d sign OO when they already have Ronan, Ireland’s not that big of a market.

10/13/2025 8:05pm I don't see why Dak would move, unless he gets more money and better training conditions at another team. The bike is fast, the team is clearly working. Unless they are being underpaid, there isn't a lot better out there. Then again, maybe I'd take the pay cut to get of E13 rims.
