EBlackwell Added a reply to Stiffness versus Compliance
10/18/2024 8:55am I think there is a lot of room for bikes to improve in the stiffness and compliance space from what I see from the racing world, but I personally don't have a good sense of it. It would be really interesting to try more and learn how much of a difference it makes. Generally, it will be very hard for...

10/18/2024 8:25am This is insane. So teams on the bubble have to wait for team registration to complete before figuring out if they qualify and if they are going WC racing? I generally like the changes but this last minute shit is straight up unprossional for an organization which is claiming to make the sport more professional.

10/17/2024 3:45pm I think we could figure out some type of compliance scale based on these factors below. Rider weight: 125lb more compliance needed. 250lb less compliance needed. Rider ability: Beginner rider could use a softer setup. Pro rider could push a stiffer setup harder. Riding style: Playful park rider could use a stiffer setup(but not always). Downhill/enduro smashing into rocks and off chamber could use a softer setup. Dirt type (grip): Dry dirt/hardpack could use more compliance for extra grip. Tacky dirt, clay, loam can run stiffer setup.

10/16/2024 8:46am When you spend 5to 10k on a bike you are into a constant maintenance cycle. Tires run almost $150 each plus sealant, cassette can be 500, chains and chainrings $100 each, bearings and maintenance, brake pads, grips. Then there’s gear that gets abused. Warm, cold and rain gear, lights etc. Gas for getting to spots or shuttling, and lift tickets, which are steadily increasing. That’s just for riding not racing. 10/16/2024 8:45am Agreed, It's not like his dad bought an entire auto manufacturer and F1 race team just to get his kid a race seat.

Speedster Liked a comment about Press Release BOS Suspension Launches BOS Cycling, Introduces 2025 Range
10/15/2024 8:13am I had/have the BOS fork and shock on my 2016 Roacky Mountain Maiden DH bike. It was a great fork - performance and durability-wise,but once it needed service I was f’d. I spent $100 on shipping to get $35 worth of parts from France once, and the second time I had something go wrong, I couldn’t get any help from them. There wasn’t anybody that was servic8ng them in the States, and try as I might on their French FB page, I couldn’t get any help from them again, so it was just easier to replace it with a Fox...

10/14/2024 8:44am $75k I guess gets him entry to 10 WC races, transportation and accomodation at them, (plus IXS, British nationals too?) along with a V10 (and probably a Nomad to play on aswell) and all the wheels and tyres he can break. What's that worth on its own? Thats what he'd have to pay for anyway doing it the privateer route, plus he's also gonna get a mechanic, physio and training, fox support; plus its a way to grow his socials following. And remember he's still a minor so it's not like he could drive himself around europe sleeping in a...

10/14/2024 8:44am Tom Pidcock off Ineos apparently... lots of rumours swirling in the road world, he was pulled off their roster for Il Lombardia at the last second and made an IG post basically saying it was the team pulling him despite being in top shape. Also $75k for an 11 race World Cup/World Champs season is not much, surely the actual fully costed rider $ is more than that.

10/14/2024 8:43am Reece Wilson on a Gamux would be interesting. Probably has a good chance of nabbing that 100k Gates prize purse thing if it’s still going next year.

10/13/2024 8:36pm Quite a few riders from South Africa, Spain and France live in Andorra. Bike park to train at, 10% tax on income for residents and companies, no sales tax (with only 4.5% VAT), no inheritance, estate or transfer tax and no tax paid on Andorran investment income all make it an attractive place to live.

10/6/2024 8:19am HAHA I was actively scrolling through stories hoping to get some videos from the madness. Did Nina keep all her joints together this time? Does Greg remember retiring? No luck. Jacksons DJ set sounded good though. Aso, what happened to Jess Blewitt? I saw her story that she was in the hospital.
