It's usually lower back that lights up first for me, likely because I sit at a desk for work and since the pandemic have done almost zero strength training/mobility work... I am coasting on credit earned in the gym the decade prior but at age 41 that ... more »

Was listening to the Lourdes wrap-up Moving the Needle podcast with Sven Martin and he mentioned something interesting: Chris Ball (of EWS fame) was formerly the tech delegate for DH, and is a former WCDH racer himself, and apparently is somehow involved ... more »

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8jCmSmX6MiI Great race summary video that captures the atmosphere well. I think a lot of people (myself included) are going to really miss Red Bull producing the series next year. For anyone that follows road racing, does ... more »

On YT, it was Martin Whitely as owner and manager right? So Gwin was just having to focus on training, recovery, racing right? I guess the Onza and TRP product dev too in that era. With IFR he's team owner correct? So must be a lot more work. Hard to ... more »

Was watching the recap videos and wow, Amaury's mistake in the first split must have cost him at least 1-2 seconds? Maybe more like 3-5 seconds given the loss of momentum and how he drops down to the slower low line as he comes out of the woods? Notice ... more »

At 1:10 he loses the bike, slips, WHACKS a big tree and then completely misses the grass camel hump out of the trees and slides down to the middle outside line and lost all his speed. If he doesn't mess up there, how much does he win by???

Holy heck, I knew he's been...more

I meant to add in my post that the results for IFR make sense in the circumstances, Dak 11th after two weeks on the new bike, Gwin with a huge crash qualies day and Seth with a painful crash in the whoops. Gwin mentions in the Dialed race day video they ... more »

Not piling on hate here for Gwin or IFR, I want to see the dude and team do well, big support for local boy Seth and Dak is a ripper. But just an observation from the outside, comparing the IFR process re: timelines and refinement against what Commencal ... more »

Impressive eyes on this one. Really curious to see how qualies go. Timed training doesn't always mean much, although the top 5 guys are definitely going quick. Would be sick to see Gwin light it up given his history in Lourdes, but the vibes don't feel ... more »

Added a comment about press release Aenomaly Introduces SwitchGrade for the BikeYoke Revive Dropper Post 3/26/2022 1:43 AM
grambo

It's a cool idea but with long travel droppers what exactly is the downside to running a bit of negative tilt? 180-200mm+ you aren't going to ever have the saddle in the way. Assuming you ride somewhere that is climb then descend and not rolling/flat, no downside to a few degrees negative tilt for climbing.

@svenmartin You continuously do great interviews because you have cultivated so many amazing relationships with everyone related to mountain biking. I really do hope that Brendan can dedicate a year to full on racing. I'd love to see him get a few more podiums. All the best, BostonDon

Added reply in a thread 2014/2017/2021 Specialized Demo Alloy how do they each compare - looking to buy my first downhill bike. 3/23/2022 1:53 AM

Is the 2021 Demo a mullet? Can't remember when they started selling it as a mullet versus full 29er DH bike, because full 29er will feel drastically different than a 2014 26er which is a tiny bike in comparison hence the fun factor. New bike can do all ... more »

Precip amounts look pretty low. Anyone have the forecast/actual weather from the 2017 race? Must have been at least 20-30mm rain given track conditions?

Added reply in a thread Factory vs. Performance Elite 3/18/2022 1:54 PM

I have had Factory on my last 3 bikes because it came with the bike but I wouldn't pay significantly more for it. As pointed out above the retail pricing isn't that much different.
