Hello Vital MTB Visitor,
We’re conducting a survey and would appreciate your input. Your answers will help Vital and the MTB industry better understand what riders like you want. Survey results will be used to recognize top brands. Make your voice heard!
Five lucky people will be selected at random to win a Vital MTB t-shirt.
Thanks in advance,
The Vital MTB Crew
the pants are YT pants - you can clearly see the YT logo on her left leg
Vali wore her YT jersey for Quali. It's probably her only world champ jersey. Is the current world champ required to wear their world champ jersey when racing, so she had no choice?
At this point using a YT jersey is not promoting them, they are not selling bikes any more. When the team was ok, they had a big truck, they had line spotters and coffee, a physiotherapist, and a team to support the riders and at a certain point they could use the parts that they wanted. I sincerely do not think they "trick" Kolb to sign a four year contract when they new it will last only 2, He choose YT, he could not.
This isn’t YT’s first time pulling the plug on a race team and not giving any notice. Ask Gwin about that. And according to the team manager in the video, they found out the same day the press release went out to Pinkbike, Vital etc. They all stated they aren’t getting paid anymore and are funding themselves for the final races. I can see why some of them choose not to represent YT on their jerseys.
Wouldn't it be in YT USAs interest to keep the mob in YT gear through the season? If they are still in "full operation" and "not affected" they should be able to shift som marketing funds?
And will it be possible to purchase the team from YT if/once Flossmann buys back the company? Thinking in terms of a brand without enough points to be top 15, to get in and take ownership of contracts and all?
pretty sure YT USA is just distribution / customer service. not sure what assets they have at their disposal. plus the presumption that the yt mob contract was with yt gmbh.
the new yt could probably buy back the rights to the team - assuming it isn't dissolved / disbanded as part of the insolvency. but by the time that happens the deadline for team registration with the UCI will have past - i think it's the end of this month?
I love what I do for work and feel privileged to be able to do it. But, if my employer wasn't paying me, I sure as sh*t wouldn't turn up for work in uniform.
In fact they'd be lucky to see me at all.
I think this dude is Markus Flossman
Vali doing making a conscious effort to cover the YT logo with her hand in the interview.
I completely agree with this. As much as I like my job, there's no way I'm paying to do it.
I feel like YT could have gone about this differently. If I was a YT rider, I'd be doing what Oisin is doing, which I don't think it's hurting his future team chances.
this is the way!
dude, they gave andi kolb a 4 year contract which didn’t even last 10 months!! it’s his first year on YT. and since we now know that YT wasn’t flush with cash for at least the last 2-3 years (thx to some forum members here). it‘s really shady to kinda trick him into signing when they‘ve been standing on weak legs financially for years!
Yt paid team fees to ESo or UCi to enter this year.
It would be a nice gesture to give that money back to the Mob riders if they are owed portion of their contract.
Riders definitely need a better union because these big bike companies have too much leverage and face no accountability.
YT should be banned from world cups for 5 years
Indeed.
Agree on all points. YT are deadbeats. They should sell the Mob team to the riders for a dollar and leave forever.
Riders provide immense marketing benefit for almost no money. NCAA is getting what’s been coming to them for a while, finally paying their athletes providing free labor while schools live lavishly. UCI, it’s a matter of time.
Veering off topic briefly… this episode provides a decent overview of the college sports situation. It’s different in professional MTB considering there are no restrictions on outside endorsements, but it would be interesting to see how the athletes are paid compared to company bottom lines and higher management.

I wouldn’t call it free labor. They got free education including housing, food ect.. (ask any student drowning in debt that was worth). They get first pick of classes. They got so many other feee things. Can you argue they were underpaid ok but free labor is BS
Banned for what? Because they are facing financial troubles? I think it’s time to cool down for some of us here. All riders are apparently signed to new teams, their team manager Gunnar did a hell of a job getting the riders through these final rounds and none of the customers are facing financial loss.
If you take into account the strict German regulations on insolvency this all ended up pretty much as good as it possibly could
Yeah if you can’t honor your contracts you probably should be banned for a period of time. Nobody but yt is to blame for all of their problems. I tend to doubt Marcus will be in the position to relaunch the mob anytime soon anyways. But any league should try to get rid of sponsors who have proven to both been financially irresponsible and act in bad faith towards their riders.
from live uncaged to live unpaid…
Thibaut Daprela putting out a statement on his instagram today.
not really any news in his post to be honest.
I wonder if rogue racing is not continuing with him. Considering the success of the other riders, Thibault and his “rumors” may very well be a hinderance in getting sponsors. And rogue can probably get more points than thibault by hiring a up and coming or mid pack veteran female elite. Which seems unlikely if he is on the team.
My guess this is his “hey I’m still available” post before msa. But It doesn’t seem like he’s changed his position of being totally innocent of any wrongdoing. And if that were the case I think it would come to light. The truth rarely stays buried in false accusation situations.
Thats what I took from it as well. Doesn't sound like he's coming back with Rogue Racing. I could be way off though.
Why would you bring up the rumors your are upset get brought up?
Question, why would the riders want to buy the Mob team? It would essentially be worth nothing.
I’m sure I read somewhere that the points are linked to the ‘paying agent’ in this case, YT gmbh and that if the paying agent would change then the points disappear (but I may have completely misread/misunderstood that part).
Riders absolutely not, but if someone buys the team, does he get to keep the points? Because there are a lot!
Rather than mentioning the rumours, he could always set the record straight on what happened*. Without the need to mention other names, of course. Otherwise he's going to perpetually remain the object of how stories escalate out of his control.
* IYKYK, but it's his story to tell, not anyone else's.
Any chance you guys can start a YT thread to discuss all things YT please ?
i've deleted the non-relevant YT posts. start a new thread or take it to the bikeonomics (formerly known as companies shutting down in 12-24 months) to talk about the business/customer ramifications of YT's problems.
can't you just move such posts to a new thread instead of deleting?
