12/2/2024 1:27pm I found these photos of the Honda RN01 that I never noticed. Greg Minar mentioned on the, Making Up The Numbers podcast that when he went testing for Honda, the first frame they had was max stiffness. As the day went on they start drilling holes in the frame until it looked like Swiss cheese and he liked the ride feel. They went back and made the next frame to match that rigidity. So I started looking up photos and noticed there was 2 versions, one with single backbone and one had double. Not sure which was first, but cool...

11/29/2024 12:00pm From what I've seen, from a euro perspective the girls are going to have some tight competition amongst the first years. Both the Rosas (Zierl and Jensen) and Lina Frener. Add to that Aletha Ostgaard and there's four big contenders for a podium. I'll add Cassandra Peizerat in the mix, but well have to see if she stays racing DH (she's also a growing talent in the alpine skiing world) For the guys, Is Cohen Bundy a 2008 or '09? It's really sad to see Cash Shaleen out of action, he would have made quite an impact and we have...

11/12/2024 7:13am Hey, I’m Ryan Burney. I’ve spent eight years as an engineer for full-suspension bikes, working on some fun projects, like developing the flex Horst link for the Cannondale Scalpel and being lead engineer for the latest GT Fury downhill bike. With over a decade of downhill racing under my belt (even made it to one World Cup—though I didn’t qualify so I stuck to engineering), I've had the pleasure of racing alongside the Vital crew, like Jason, Tanner, and Dak. Below is a photo of me, being slower than Dak. These days, I’m focused on my own projects, but I...

11/11/2024 7:53pm Yep! I posted the same thing on August 8th and got down voted too. Either people don't want Loris on Norco, or they think he'll go somewhere else. I'm doubling down.

11/10/2024 9:32am I agree that it’s definitely not ideal and the points structure is wack, but it might be a positive for events like this. Having top pros show up at these regional-level events could be great for them.

11/4/2024 6:09pm Interesting question. Not something I've thought much about, as I have a typically owned an enduro bike (which I prefer MX) and an XC bike (which are all full 29). I don't know if there is a precise 'inflection point' in the travel numbers where I'd want to switch over to MX, but its probably around 150mm of rear travel...

11/2/2024 6:57pm The Making Up The Numbers folks seemed pretty confident Reece and Heather are going to Gamux. Also that the Manitou rear shock is a liability, haha.

10/31/2024 12:30pm Being I'm sick (and bored) I wanted to add a few more thoughts. 1) Anyone looking for raw data, its already been done and the link is posted here. Zee Germans live up to the stereotype and absolutely crushed it if you care about being completely quantitative with respect to a brake test. 2) The real reason I read reviews on Vital is because guys like Jason are legitimately fast, ask a lot out of their equipment and frankly have great taste. Its like reading a review of a restaurant from a food critic you jive with. While adding some...

10/31/2024 11:24am After listening to Vojo mag: lunch time podcast with Alex Rudeau (in French), it appears the first ever enduro world champion is going into 2025 without team support, on his own program. He’s also not planning to race all World Cup races. He tells that most of the edr racers are on same as he is, except a few big names, like Jesse Melamed, that are keeping some team support but at a way smaller scale. And others, like Martin Maes, are turning full downhill. An other point thing discussed is that some top enduro racers are coordinating to pack...

10/31/2024 11:18am They'll be doing downhill, I'd imagine. Richie seems capable and motivated. He'll do well enough. Send Slawomir to all the stage races, Megavalanches, some EDRs, all the US stuff like Leadville or Downieville or Maah Daah Hey 100 (little shout out for a cool race up here in North Dakota) and all the wild stuff he's willing to do. He'll do great and get to advertise the entire Yeti line. Hire a filmer/editor to follow him around (super bonus for being a decent bike mechanic, too) and he's now a very loud part of the Yeti marketing arm. Hire a...

10/30/2024 7:50am i've run most of the brakes tested (not the maven) and absolutely love the test. my personal winner is the dominion, which i'm still running. (a4, ditch t4) i agree on the verdict. needed some days to get used to the light lever feel. once you're used, this brake feels absolutely save on slippery conditions as the light lever feel and modulation goes hand in hand. mix this with the aboslute braking power it's easy to switch between brake force through the front or rear. for example entering a slippery corner with lots of roots. great learning curve for modulating...

10/18/2024 8:55am As far as frames, they could make estimates based on frame size (XS gets very light layup, XL gets much heavier layup, etc.) and then just offer a removable frame and/ or chain stay brace for those of us that actually think we know what we are doing. That would likely cover a lot of scenarios, including maybe different terrain.
