rockies_alpine Added a reply to 2026 South Korea world cup
5/2/2026 10:59am Asa with the marginal aero gain fabric on the jersey. Is this the first time it's been seen on a DH jersey?? These guys wear a lot of clothing (more than roadies) that's getting ever tighter, so maybe there's a lot of marginal gains to pick up on the face fabric.

rockies_alpine Added a reply to 2026 MTB Tech Rumors and Innovation - Longer and Slacker
5/2/2026 5:51am Anyone else notice the clearly aero shoulder patches on Asa Vermette's jersey in South Korea?? Interesting seeing the tech crossover from the road and gravel world.
rockies_alpine Added a reply to Tire inserts - do you run them?
4/4/2026 6:12am I used to run them in my enduro bike, but got used to running more air in the rear + full DH casing tires so now I don't. I really don't like pedaling inserts around, which I do most of the time with that bike If I rode a lot of bike park they would be in that bike 100%...
rockies_alpine Added a reply to Who rides in pants that aren’t specific MTB pants?
4/2/2026 2:01pm Some jogger style or adjustable bottom pant loop version of the Decathlon MH500 is great. Limited colours. Reasonably cheap. Weird Asian or Euro sizes. They go over top of pads nicely. Bonus they are also good for hiking in. https://www.decathlon.ca/en/p/8917640/mens-hiking-pants-mh-500-blue I still like my fancy bike specific pants more... I will always choose my NF DP3s or Specialized pants in...
rockies_alpine Added a reply to The Bikeconomics (Mega)Thread
3/20/2026 6:29am Alba Distribution is closing up shop. They were fairly small Western Canada distributor based in Squamish, and had niche brands like Formula, EXT, OChain, Revgrips, Dyedbro. Sucks because they did all the actual EXT fork and shock damper service work, which all the LBS's just farm out to them.
rockies_alpine Added a reply to 2025: Things you loved this year
12/22/2025 5:45am Three things that still stand out to me in 2025: 1. WAO carbon rims. Absolutely 100% sold on the premium of burly, well designed carbon for the durability. 2. Working with and trusting a knowledgeable tuner to deal with your suspension. The difference is worth it. 3. Maven brakes. Convinced me to ditch Shimano on my enduro bike.
rockies_alpine Added a reply to Bashguard vs. Chainguide on a Trail Bike
12/20/2025 10:11pm Always the full bashguide. I am dumb and smash everything. All of the guards I've run on every enduro bike since 2017 have been significantly bashed. Even if the guide saves one dropped chain per year, I'm going to run it. The weight is really nothing for what you get. I won't run either on the X/C bike though. It's...
rockies_alpine Added a reply to Favorite DH Knee pads
12/11/2025 8:42pm I have the slightly older Fox Launch D30 Pro knees and elbows with the hard plastic cap. They have been 100% protective, completely indestructible, and even don't suck that bad to pedal in. They're very easy to wear on the ankles if you have a fire road slog to do. My vote is anything with a small hard cap, especially...
rockies_alpine Added a reply to BIKES PARKS IN BC
11/18/2025 12:23pm My only comment as an Albertan is Whistler is out of the way and kind of isolated in it's own bubble when compared to all the other interior bike parks. Minimize the driving and plan a trip dedicated to the interior vs. Whistler plus more. Sun Peaks is the only one that's kind of close to Whistler, and it's not...
rockies_alpine Added a reply to E-bikes make you f*tter? Training with an eMTB
10/30/2025 10:46pm Whole bunch of my friends got e-bikes because they are true die hards that just want to ride more all the time. It will be fairly obvious if they're actually fitter in a couple of years on the regular bikes because they did a ton more zone 2 mileage than me. I am positive none of them will be doing...
