10/12/2025 5:06pm This has been rumoured for years and I'll believe it when I see it. Calgary has such an affluent and bike rabid population that's underserved and forced to drive to BC. Lift access (other than Winsport) has been rumoured vaporware for years. If not in the mountain parks, then where?? I can't see Sunshine or Lake Louise ever doing it...

10/9/2025 6:26am $360 CAD for the new Wolftooth pedals per their website. $360 for SPDs! I almost spit out my coffee. That's TIME Speciale 10/12 levels of ridiculousness, back when they first came out. Arguably more crazy since there's no special sauce or differentiation going on with the very mature SPD interface. The interesting one is the DEL - going for max...

9/17/2025 6:26am OneUp pump with EDC tool on an inline mount. The pump still gets used multiple times a year without fail, and is mandatory piece of kit to fix some situations. The downtube of my last frame made it impossible to mount the pump holder under the bottle cage. It's also nicely out of the way when it's inline with the...

9/4/2025 7:46pm Cube is selling hybrids, ebikes, and some road bikes at my closest LBS in Canada. They are about as exciting as Canyon. Boomer cruisers or for the weird guy who wants a German full suspension bike on a deep discount, because no one bought it last year.

8/20/2025 6:29am Having been there myself, Whistler eats tires for breakfast. The very grippy slabs of the S2S region also generally eat tires for breakfast, even if the loamy forest is truly the opposite. There's not enough loamy forest to keep up to wear from the rocks. You also probably don't need the stickiest rubber in the mid-summer dustbin of the S2S...

8/15/2025 2:00pm Up in Canada-land, I have seen a number of new HP Sights around the eastern Alberta Rockies say ~7-8 of 'em, and ride with a couple of folks that own the higher end ones, but nothing in qty. like years past Horst link models. I almost bought a new C1 160 MX until I found a deal on a nice...

8/9/2025 6:11am Eh I guess that's nice? Dissector was always an OK tire, not really better in any way than the Spec Eliminator. Do they last more than 6 rides? That's really what we all truly need to know. The Eliminator T7/9 grid gravity has been the burly, long lasting Dissector you've been wanting all this time. The new v2 Eliminator is...

7/28/2025 3:39pm Jonathan Helly just keeps winning on the 2024 WAO prototype DH bike. Now he's the latest Canadian DH National Champion, and took last (3) Dunbar series races in a row. It would certainly be in consideration for "the" hot new DH bike of the year if only WAO was on the World Cup circuit, still making frames and made it...
rockies_alpine Added a comment about product review Mezzer Pro
7/17/2025 3:25pm Two more comments. The stock floppy fender is fine. You can clamp a Thule XTR hitch rack arm on top of it no problem. I would not want a beefier fender as it would jeopardize how the reverse arch design has to play nice with this style of rack. Second, as an otherwise happy Mezzer owner, the crown paint mega-sucks. Like 4-5 wet, muddy shuttle laps on a North Shore rack, going up a bumpy gravel road, and "wow the paint is gone fast" sucks. They should just do raw crowns or include a guide on how to DIY strip...

7/17/2025 5:46am I like it a 1000% times more than my ERA V2.0. My only gripe with the stock rebound tune is it's not fast enough to run a higher sag, super fast stick-to-the-ground setup. But you can go full nerd and make it that way later if you want, buying tunes, high flow pistons and all sorts of aftermarket nerd stuff. The initial setup is definitely a giant rabbit hole. After running around in circles forever, I settled on Manitou's stock recommendations for weight +10psi in the IRT for "downhill" per the guide.

7/15/2025 3:21pm In a similar vein, I still see some discounted brand new 2023 Norco Sights sitting on the floor of a not-so-small local shop (while I am looking for the newer high-pivot 160 MX version that they don't have), and it does make me wonder how some of these businesses are doing. Even the well-established, long term players in Western Canada...
