10/1/2024 11:26am If the frame is UDH and also compatible with new Shimano derailleur, likely the frame standard is the same and the Shimano mount bolt (T-Type for SRAM) will be different.

10/1/2024 11:26am Given UDH is an open standard and becoming industry wide it would make sense for Shimano to utilize it............so of course they won't do it.

10/1/2024 11:25am The first bullet says it’s a UDH frame, so whatever Shimano is doing is compatible with that standard.

10/1/2024 11:25am Not sure if this was caught by anyone else, but Open might have just leaked some details on a new Shimano derailleur while promoting a new gravel frame of theirs? https://opencycle.com/blog/new-direction-for-up-and-upper

9/29/2024 7:35am Man I have never had enough cash to consider a santa cruz, but the fact this one has a "legendary collet axle" is really making me consider it. All jokes aside, they are taking a huge decision to go 4bar, to "make the best ebike we have ever made", but couldn't be bothered to figure out how to fit the 800Wh battery that only weighs 1 extra kg in there?

9/29/2024 7:35am Seriously, the transparent marketing just hurts. SC makes nice bikes, VPP is nice, long link four bars are nice, but the cognitive dissonance in marketing messages is fatiguing.

9/29/2024 7:35am "We know our e-bike customers don't care or even know what VPP is so here's a bike that says SANTA CRUZ on it." (Am I too cynical?)

9/29/2024 7:05am I would consider my tool kit pretty minimal, here's the breakdown: One Up EDC pump - 114g Multitool - 60g Tire plugs - 20g 29" tube - 200g Zip ties - 6g Chain links + quick link - 8g UDH hanger - 28g CO2 cartridge - 70g Sawyer mini filter + bag - 105g TOTAL: 611g Roughly 1.3 lbs. all in. That gives me enough tools to fix all but the biggest mechanicals along with an endless supply of water. I'd be carrying this stuff with me regardless, so the fact that it can live inside my bike full time...

9/29/2024 7:05am Hmm, not sure why you assume I’m “not running proper equipment.” My bike is built for riding in legit terrain where shit can go sideways. Thankfully, it rarely ever does - exactly because I “run proper equipment” - but if/when shit does happen I want at least a fighting chance of riding my bike out of the woods. I’ll take the minimal weight penalty of some bits and pieces rather than hiking out.

9/29/2024 7:03am The only critique I can think of is that It would have been really nice if they used a 60mm stroke shock instead of 55. (I know that’s a i2i increase though) Those little shocks can get worked pretty hard with the sort of riding you can do on a bike like that. But otherwise it looks great. As someone interested in a 160f/150r trail bike they certainly caught my attention. Still holding out to see the Sentinel though.
