Have we reached a plateau in geometry now? Updates that are called huge = changes that are actually 1/2degree or 3-4mm different. Given how bad the 2nd hand market is right now who is going to take the hit upgrading their bike for very marginal differences. If you were in the market for a 150mm trail bike would take a V4 Bronson/Previous gen Stuntjumper for 30-40% off or pay full whack for a current one?

With all the Interviews, FAQ for DI2 recently and now the spyshots, I‘m sure the release is just around the corner.

while i agree that many riders often have "more" bike than they need for a given trail, i'm not sure if this comes from a desire to be "overbiked" or just that many riders have one bike. they need it to cover many different kinds of terrains and difficulty levels - which results on inherently being overbiked on some trails.

The damper is pretty consistent. Damper fluid is designed to have consistent viscosity across a wide range of temperatures… that is the whole reason to have a special oil. Plus the fact that shim valves aren’t terribly sensitive to viscosity in the first place. I’ve run these experiments on a dyno FYI- small % changes at most. Air springs on the other hand gain noticeable pressure when hot. I’m always a bit skeptical when someone complains about their coil shock becoming a pogo stick due to heat. More than likely it’s you and your (weak, non-world cup) legs getting fatigued...

I saw them at park city a few weeks ago. One of the pivot owners. Must have been escaping the AZ heat. He said no plans to commercialize the carbon lugged mule, it’s just for prototyping (sad!). Apparently costs like 22k per frame or something crazy. Looks amazing in person. Had a 38 and an X2, no high pivot, had what looked like shortish chain stays and didn’t appear super slacked out, but tough to say for sure.

Giant- smashed carbon frame. My fault. Shop Offered crash replacement at very reasonable price, managed to change size and colour of frame after bypassing the shop and going direct to giant. giant good, shop bad. Santa Cruz- different local shop found a frame issue when installing a new shock. Took 3 months for replacement frame to arrive, I was still riding the compromised frame during this time on shops instruction. I proposed replacing with a different (similar) in stock model but was told no, it had to be the same frame model and I didn’t have any choice of replacement...

Don't wanna hijack the thread but do wanna mention how often I hear a shop is the ultimate problem in the chain of goings ons in these situations. It's a bummer to hear there are so many shops in that bad effort territory. Took me a while to find the solid shops in this area. Nowadays I simply drive all the way to Orange County to find a real MTB shop so I don't have to deal with shops that seem to spend most of their time selling kids bikes and overcharging roadies for repairs. Meh

Just had anther warranty experience i didn't add in my first post as only just resolved in last few hours... Oneup... v2 dropper started to score, Probably from the mud riding.(still working fine and told them this) Oneup didn't hesitate at all and offered me the v3 dropper... No back and forth emails or anything, straight to looking after a loyal oneup customer(my bikes are laced with oneup everything)
