I think Shimano is missing the point- noise is the biggest issue by far. If my bike is loud, it's bad. I don't care if the suspension is actually working 1% better.

It has little to do with engine braking. Everything to do with grip. Tldr: Front slows you down with large bursts of power, rear keeps your speed in check with longer duration braking events. Don't need data acquisition to try going 20km/h on just about any surface,then using each brake individually and see how fast can you stop. Or ride down in'n'out burger with front only vs rear only. Here we go, the 32-inch wheel has officially arrived at the highest level of DH racing (shoutout to Neko Mullaly who did run it at the Sea Otter DH earlier this year). Martin Maes has a prototype with the big front hoop on it, reportedly 200mm of fork travel and a bunch of adjustments built into the frame. Having come from riding bikes for the last 5 years with AR values in the 50-55% range, I really, really like that my Vessel out of the box with a floating brake arm, linkage driven single pivot, sits at 70ish AR, and is adjustable in both directions. I got some rough measurements from the those other pictures to estimate the change in Linkage (I don't think the model in there wasn't super accurate either) and yup, it probably increases the AR to 100-120%

This sounds interesting, especially the last part about Shimano! Maybe I'm just extrapolating from my own preferences here, but I feel that most MTBers who have been in the sport for a while thought the previous-gen Bosch motors were already powerful enough, and that they'd rather have the lightest possible motor + battery package at that power level than even more power and bigger batteries.
