I just hope all the light/medium technical trails survive this XC Renaissance 32" madness. Ever since gravel bikes got popular, it seems like it has become standard practice to turn any non black diamond trail into a dirt version of a paved road. Kind of seems like everything is either a flow trail/fire road or the gnar gnar these days, and nothing in between.

This is what companies want. You need a new bike bag, a higher price train ticket, a new car, and a new house for your new 32” bike. The Consumerism dream.

I cannot believe how inane the convo around 32 is. Please, people: you are saying the exact same things they said about 29.

That last question is really intriguing. I know we all want to stick with the existing standard (26 ain't dead), but for the big XC teams, they are chasing every last little gain, though there has to be a limit somewhere. At some point, making larger wheels won't be faster, but where is that point? Until last year, everyone thought it was 29, but here we are, and 32 is faster. The rate of change is still positive, but the second derivative is probably negative at this point, where going up from 29 to 32 isn't as big a change...

Interesting back to back testing between 29'' and 32'' wheels hard-tails on XC loop from French magazine Vojo. the result shows faster times for the 32'' wheels in every loop parts ranging from almost 2% to almost 5% in the different sections (flat, uphill and downhill). https://www.vojomag.com/notre-vtt-32-pouces-face-au-chrono-vraiment-plu…

Unfortunately that is not correct. RC, FC, and WB are all horizontal measurements. CSL is the point to point measurement from center of BB to rear axle, and there's no name (or need) for the equivalent version at the front.

My guess would be that UDH hanger doesn't allow for adjustability unless you do what RAWW does and have the entirely different rear dropout. Plus they were one of the first brands to really commit to size specific chainstays, so they probably decided there wasn't enough people who would buy and swap dropouts, to warrant the investment in developing, producing and stocking those parts.

Thomas Genon joined Rocky Mountain as per captioned pics that were just uploaded on PB. Doesn't look like the article has been released yet, so I'm thinking someone forgot to set the pics to private?

Friend of mine has been beating the crap out of them ever since they were available. A lot tougher than I expected. The argument that it would be hard to source one on a trip is kind of silly. You can literally just put a couple in your pocket…

I hope Bilstein puts a better lock on there before somebody carrying a Leatherman walks away with all the prototypes. (Seriously, those cable locks are astonishingly easy to cut.)

Spoken like a boomer core lord. That’s what the viral forums seem to have become though. Dario is actually a breath of fresh air in mountain bike media, same as Jason. His perspective is a welcome change from the usual safe, generic industry takes the rest of the media recycles time and time again.

So this is kind of hilarious to me because forbidden just ships a pile of parts along with a frame that isn't even put together. Having built/QC checked a lot of bikes from Transition, Ibis, Cannondale, Orbea, and Forbidden I can honestly say that the QC on the Forbidden frames are absolutely stellar, on par with Ibis carbon (Ibis alloy leaves a lot to be desired). Unfortunately, with bike brands that ship just frame and parts end up leaving a lot of their bikes "QC" impression on the skills of the builder building the bike. If your headset creeks, or...
