5/15/2026 7:58am I think one of the largest "We're not in Kansas anymore" moments I had when I began working for a component manufacturer after years in bikes shops was when I had the insignificance of aftermarket sales explained to me. Don't get me wrong, every brand worth their salt is going to support aftermarket product bc why leave money on the table, but OE sales are king in the bike industry and ultimately OE sales drives every design decision. SRAM gets to push the convenience of full SRAM spec by limiting cross compatibility. For brands like Canyon, Specialized, etc., who are...

5/15/2026 7:53am Pick a chainring size and be a dick about it? Honestly who cares. Kind of reminds me of skiing, where if you don’t ski on 130 flex boots you’re a lil bish. I have a commute and regular guy job and live kinda far from trails. I don’t have as much free time as others to be an ascent monster. Let me enjoy my 30t ring. Don’t yuck my yum yo!!

4/6/2026 5:19am I think it goes without saying that the torsional stiffness of a fork on a whole is a function of many things. The only point was that, assuming the same material, there isn’t a magic 15 mm axle that’s stiffer than a 20 mm axle. Yes the hub adds to the torsional rigidity of the axle. If you had the same exact hub layout, the 20 mm version would add more stiffness than the 15 mm version. The rigidity of the hub is limited by axle preload and coefficient of friction at the various hub interfaces. Proper axle torque would...

4/3/2026 6:41am In regard to front axles and stiffness of inverted forks, the angular deflection of a shaft is defined as θ=(T*L)/(J*G). The key variables for axles are J (polar moment of inertia since we're talking about circles) and G (shear modulus of the material). J for a circular cross section is J(r1,r2)=(π*((r1^4)-(r2^4)))/2 where r1 is the OD and r2 is the ID (zero if solid). As for G, the shear modulus of steel is approximately 3x that of aluminum. Now for a comparison between 15 and 20 mm axles... Lets say we have a solid 15 mm axle and want to...

3/17/2026 6:30pm Forbidden bikes have kinda wide and shallow down tube so the usual storage would not fit there. While that keeps the silhouette of the bike visually light, the location around the BB area made me totally ignore the storage compartment on my V2 Druid. It is kinda useless...

3/17/2026 4:55pm The frame storage on the Druid is on the bottom of the downtube, just above the BB. Maybe the same here?
