There's a new RockShox spare parts catalog out, and there's some nice vice blocks listed in the new Boxxer section. For both brands, you should always buy the most expensive chain they sell, so XX and XTR as the harder coatings on them often double to triple the usage you can get out of them, more than offsetting the cost increase. Zero friction cycling has the data, but XX flat top chains in particular are the cheapest chain per mile you will find.

The XX chain or any of the transmission chains are insanely hard wearing and very strong overall. I have 3 seasons on one that came with the XX groupset and still can't measure any hint of wear using the latest gauges. Probably close to 160,000+M in vert and thousands of kilometers on the MTB. I think they really meant it when they say this system will last the lifetime of the bike.

Thanks for the follow-up @sspomer ... I watched the video and re-read the article. I'm still not entirely sure if he's making assumptions based on the changes or had this exact info told to him. -Wandering bite point and "pump out" are different phenomena. I believe (from everything I've heard, the wandering bite point/inconsistency is the bigger issue. He seems to be talking a lot about 'pump out' though. He references the new swing link and lower hydraulic pressure (from the smaller 18mm piston instead of 19mm) as 'fixing' these issues because it lets the pistons retract more easily. That...

Respectfully, I disagree with your characterization of the Base brake's lever feel. I don't think there has ever been a brake in the history of the universe with a more on/off lever feel than the Maven Ultimate, and the thing I like most about the Base is that it keeps 90% of the power but makes the lever feel mushier in a good way. Lots more room to fine tune brake power using your finger on the Base, whereas the window to do that with the Ultimate feels like it occurs in roughly 0.04mm of lever movement.

There's a team spec model with the Brembos, so it's just a matter of when they're released. Seems like the brake launch is tied to the bike launch. Curious if the DH transmission launch will be at the same time as Sram was involved in the Demo's development. In Korea, we're only getting the team spec, S-works, and frame-only, so no info on any other models, which makes me curious if Brembo will have a 2nd-tier model at launch.
