Mr. P Added a reply to Should a New World Cup DH Track Be Bedded In or Left Raw for First Practice?
5/1/2026 8:54am As a fan, after watching the RAW edit, I'm feeling like this is the most exciting a track has been in a long time. You can see the racers puzzling, different lines tried (rather than blue groove) and really good riding. That said, I'm not a fan if the racers are injured because of the raw track.

5/1/2026 8:48am This is the first time in a long time I have been interested in watching DH World Cup. The raw nature of the track, that riders are struggling to figure it out and that it is evolving throughout the weekend. Going to require more of the riders to gain an advantage. Obviously it isn't a perfect track but this is way cooler than huge bike park sections. More raw tracks with some jumps built in the middle sections and offer lots of line choices to develop

I couldn't have a bigger level of excitement for janky turns that leave it all to skill & not onesie pajamas. That uppers section is built for JNCO's!!!

Mr. P Added a reply to Would you rather have too much "Engineered Compliance" or not enough?
4/23/2026 1:42pm I've maintained or gained confidence through overly stiff, even if I can get a bit beat up or bounced off line, while flex shows up unexpectedly and steals confidence. Also, stiffness can sometimes be tuned down through other parts, while flex usually cannot be made more stiff.

4/23/2026 1:37pm I selected too stiff, but as with everything in my dumb ole brain, there are caveats. My most recent experience with a bike that was too flexy, was a first generation orbea rise. That bike had a relatively stiff front triangle and an absolute door hinge of a pivot/rocker link and rear triangle. It would flex to the point where I could get the rear tire to rub the chainstays and you could feel the rear end flex contributing (and at times, detracting from) cornering and being able to hold a line. It would be extremely sketchy on some high...

4/20/2026 6:12am Bronson and the BMB are awesome. His willingness to come in from a completely different direction and follow through with a project like that in todays world is way cool. I am excited to see how Reece does with the implementation of these ideas at the highest level of DH racing. The Mule is a wild looking bike! This type of thing takes me back to the mid 90's when Tattoo Lou Deangelis showed up with a DH bike that had a KX60 front fork, hub, and disk brake on a custom made DH frame. This was before the Boxxer...

4/20/2026 6:08am Be More Bikes prototype Bronson was showing off the fifth iteration of his prototype bike. It’s a wild bike designed to test the limits of geometry and amplify the benefits of their RR stem (made famous by Reece Wilson). You can find plenty of details about the goals behind the stem and bike on Instagram , but here are some details of the bike: Steel frame 500mm chain stay 445mm frame reach Reach to bar is ~350mm 100mm stem rise / -15mm stem reach Stem + bar back sweep puts handlebars ~40-50mm behind steering axis Custom drop crowns to accommodate...

4/19/2026 4:19pm Intradrive Gearbox Powertrain Tucked away in a tiny little booth on a side row was Intradrive. Turns out they're a small Scottish company that's been developing an 8-speed gearbox-equipped motor for eMTB brands dubbed the GD8. Shifting is wireless electronic, there's a 480% range, and the motor can output up to 700w. The founder said that the motors are built and wound in Scotland and that vast majority of the parts and materials are sourced from Europe if not made in-house. There's an emphasis on serviceability, and the unit fits a Shimano EP8 mount pattern. The one on display used...

4/17/2026 9:42am The Sea Otter Dual Slalom course was a sculpted classic. I think one of the last real DS courses in North America, and regular Joes could sign up and be a part of the course the pros are hitting. Huge Gs going through those deep burms. It was a great mountain bike community connection to gravity racing for both racing...

4/17/2026 9:20am That battery is basically at the headtube. Interesting to see the 'lower weight placement = better handling' argument has lost to having an SL-slim downtube. It would be really interesting to ride a mondraker or commencal Bosch and DJI back-to-back to see if there's any merit whatsoever to the argument. Although you raise the bikes center of gravity the extra weight over the front. Unrelated, the shiny black lower ohlins are way better, but please just go back to a vertical O or invent something that isn't this pathetic new shape.

4/16/2026 4:01pm Frameworks 32-Inch Testing Neko Mulally is racing a Frameworks with a 32" front wheel and 29" rear wheel for Sea Otter downhill. He says he's been riding a bit back at home and had to purchase the front tire online (1 of 2 that he could find). He's surprised by the traction but did indicate that if it broke free, it broke free without warning. He was able to cram in a 29" rear wheel despite the rear triangle being made for 27.5. His philosophy is that it's worth the experiment to figure out if there's something more to pursue...

4/9/2026 10:19pm Was on Meatypaws for a few seasons but am rocking three layers of electrical tape beneath Swayze slip ons now. I'm not super OCD but that one little rib and the star pattern on the inside of the MPs kinda drove me nuts when rotating after a bit of wear. The tape is kinda neat because you get to choose your thickness, and as the grips wear in it conforms to your hand a little bit. And the Swayzes have the same uniform pattern throughout.

4/4/2026 2:05pm That's my son @brady_buck_MTB in action. He was so pumped to get to do the photo shoot on this one on his own trail that the SEH groms put so much work into. Give him a follow on YouTube, he'd be stoked.
