If we compare the new horst link tallboy with the Allied Fitz, Forbidden Reya and Transition Smuggler, there a few difference: Tallboy is the only bike using a trunion shock most likely a 185x50, Smuggler and Fitz use a normal 210x50 shock and Reya use a 190x45 shock. So Reya most likely have a higher starting leverage ratio that could limit heavier rider that are getting close to the shock max pressure. Reya, Smuggler and most likely Tallboy use double bearing setup at the chainstay. Santa Cruz does the same for the Bullit and Vala. Allied Fitz has no exploded...

Just like GP forums, I swear. Where's that new specialized again? Patent for the 170mm design lodged in 2023 iirc. Enduro is going through a multilayered image crisis, but still the largest segment of bikes within my friend group. Meanwhile dual sus single crown overall still seeing plenty of updates. Did rider perception/wants/needs change or should the definition of enduro bike be malleable and rhyme with mall fountain?

The minimal changes to the firebird and nomad compared to the generation before shows how we almost converged in enduro bike geometry. Nothing new is needed in that saturated market.

In Western Canada Roberts composites is good. I've used them twice; both times service was great and you can't tell there was a repair. https://robertscomposites.com/

There is a little predicament in the Persian Gulf that that means the hunger for recycled plastic has skyrocketed. Ironically, the moron-in-chief is going to make electric cars, recycling and efficiency a lot more economically attractive in the land of freedumb.

Please fish for some info about the possibility of using the new suspension layout on a pedal friendly bike. Not ebike. I still love my old enduro and still think it is an amazing bike, albeit a few geo numbers slightly out of date. Or maybe they have given up on the long travel non assisted pedal friendly bikes altogether and I have to put Frameworks on my short list instead.

I think one of the largest "We're not in Kansas anymore" moments I had when I began working for a component manufacturer after years in bikes shops was when I had the insignificance of aftermarket sales explained to me. Don't get me wrong, every brand worth their salt is going to support aftermarket product bc why leave money on the table, but OE sales are king in the bike industry and ultimately OE sales drives every design decision. SRAM gets to push the convenience of full SRAM spec by limiting cross compatibility. For brands like Canyon, Specialized, etc., who are...

I wrote this on Pinkbike but will crosspost here to as I firmly believe ABS should not be involved in WCDH. I'm all for innovation in DH and I am absolutely fine with electronics in suspension but I strongly believe that ABS has no place in competitive DH. Braking ability and threshold braking are massively important skill that do separate riders. Having a system that would theoretically allow a rider to just full pull brake but not lock the wheels would be a huge advantage on most tracks and certainly would for low grip tracks or conditions. Formula One as...

The smaller the chainrings are, the higher the forces in the chain for a given power load. Because the two primary chainrings are fairly small (around 20t), the loads in the chain are high. Thus, apparently, the need for two of them. So it's not a patent circumvention thing...

https://www.sram.com/en/life/stories/specialized-highgear-co-development From the outset, the core challenge was clear: transmitting full downhill sprint and impact loads through an extremely compact system. Traditional solutions such as belts or meshing gears were quickly ruled out due to inefficiency, packaging limitations, suspension constraints, and durability concerns. Chains remained the most efficient and proven option, but early analysis showed that a single chain could not withstand elite downhill loads within the desired compact gearing and envelope. That insight led to the project’s defining architectural decision: a two chain system. Two parallel chains could theoretically share the load, but ensuring equal load distribution introduced a...

TQ is developing a new motor, a bit smaller/lighter than the current one but with 100 Nm if I am correct. I should be out next summer not before. So it could be the reason. It is a shame for Santa to go away from the VPP system ... :-(

In typical fashion, the target market is whoever wants one bad enough. The Demo is a legacy product just like a V10, Supreme, Glory etc. There will always be brand loyal fans eagerly awaiting the new-new. The fact it has exclusive cutting-edge technology will only add to the demand. Specialized knows the people will pay, and their pricing has always reflected this for new releases. For racing, a couple of my closest friends are on a race team that has been in line to get frames for months. I’m excited to see them when they arrive!
