Hi there, Cam here from Outlier MTB. First and foremost, thank you all for your positive comments and support during our recent launch! I see that some of you have been discussing the actual pedal drop on this forum. There have been some misunderstandings that we would like to take some time to clear up. Our Pendulum pedal as it was released has 6mm of drop measured from the centre of the axle to the top of the platform. Most flat pedal platforms are somewhere between 5-7mm above the axle so our pedals are essentially ~12mm bellow your average pedal...

Some our local rippers / engineers came up with a very unique "axle-less" pedal. Machined here in Calgary, Alberta and testing in the rocky mountains. They use a big ol 6902 bearing for spinny duties. The pendulum (drop pedal) is super interesting. Void pedals (traditional flat) Pendulum pedals (12mm drop) "Our platform sits 12mm below the center of the axle. Most pedals place the platform 5mm or more above the center of the axle. This effectively lowers the rider's center of mass 17mm or more offering a significant stability, and control. During sudden decelerations, the pedal acts as a pendulum...

Right now, it looks like your main loss of stiffness is coming from the seat stays not being supported by anything other than the shock. The shock is essentially acting as a structural member of your bike, taking on twisting forces in corners. The biggest improvement would likely come from adding a small swing link to connect the seat stays to the front triangle. Your shock will thank you for it 😅. From there, you could increase rear triangle rigidity by adding a seat stay bridge. If you want to take it even further, you could beef up the chain...

I realised I didn't have any picture of my bike (after 2 seasons lol) so I took some this morning. The bike has heen welded by Egerie in France, based on a linkage file I made. The idea here is to have the chainstay length based on a front to rear center ratio. I checked that ratio at SAG on bikes I found to have good cornering characteristics. In terms of number it is 63HA, 80SA, 490mm reach, 470CS, 643stack, 15mm BB drop. The bike is full 29, 180mm front and 192mm back. The frame is atypical for a single...

This sounds cheezy so bear with me but I just wanted to say thank you for the great conversations here so far. I’ve already learned some new things and it’s got me pumped. If even one person learns something new from this, then this whole article was worth the effort. With discussions like this, we can spark great ideas and figure out how to make bikes better for everyone, faster. There are so many smart people here and I don’t see any reason why we can’t collaborate to figure out the next big steps for mountain biking progress. 🤘 And...

@earleb Dang that's a cool ride and cool idea too! Well done. Here are a few places you could buy back some stiffness: 1) seat stay bridge 2) increase the chain stay bridge length 3) add bracing to the swingarm here 4) and if you're really going for it, add a swing link like the older fury. Hope that helps!

Not that I have to tell the crowed on this form anything, but once again I get irked with people who try to pass off cheeper "knock offs" as just as good as the real thing because "they are all made in the same factory." I mean, they probably are, but by paying for the actual product instead of the knock off you're also paying for the engineering (and marketing) that goes into the product, and at least the engineering portion of it is worth paying for. Granted, if you genuinely can't afford it and its your only option then...

What Neko is doing is not comparable to what Zink is “doing”. Neko has been open from conception whereas Zink has just turned up with a frame. I’d wager most would buy a Frameworks if they could. A Zink, I’m not so sure… The dude can FreeSlope with the best, but “design” a bike…

Are we going to read anything into the photos from the Hardline start list (which will take place in 2025)? There's no consistency so the riders submitted the photos themselves rather than being stock images. Some have chosen to show their sponsored kit, others have almost deliberately hidden it or worn something ambiguous. e.g. Fearon, Holl, Edwards and Vermette have all gone for the plain black tee/hoody. Goldstone and Holl have deliberately shown their hat and eyewear spnsors but have cropped their jerseys out. Others have gone the other way and really tried to get their brands in the frame...

Bike has rental bars and shimano brakes. Looks like an ebike which is super hard to travel with, therefore I bet it's just a loaner.

Hey guys, I came across this shop that is selling new norco range vlt which is not on the official store, it has less travel 170/160 and vertical shock. In the specification there is electric shimano XT Di2 RD-M8250 12 speed, which i did not see anywhere except one page that is not accesible but on google says that this derailleur is 200 euros. That page is in Czech I apologize if somebody posted about this already.
