I think the pad is there since it's assumed riders will be clipping it as they try to stay tight through the chicane. A single pole would likely get kicked out repeatedly. I'm not saying it's possible in this section, but since the pole is outside the pad, wouldn't it be legal to jump over the pad instead of zig-zagging around it?

Why not put up some of the low to the ground "mesh tape" I have seen elsewhere in these questionable areas ??

It's Schrodinger's line, both legal and illegal at the same time. I think the blame falls firmly on the UCI. 1. Courses need to be clearly defined. Without that enforcement is subjective at best. If Amaury did this same line in practice and qualis, the UCI delegates should have brought it up sooner. 2. Rules need to be clear and objective. Without that it's not a sport. Competitive equity goes out the window.

It's funny because, spray paint the 'jump markers' pink or red, and none of this is an issue. Like if you wanna get rid of tape, for whatever reason, sure go for it. But if your replacement is... Well, dogshit. At least put in the lowest common denominator effort to make it easier on riders and viewers. If dangerous rocks are painted pink for visibility, 'jump markers' (if thats what they are) should also be painted pink and represent potential danger (aka, GAP!).

Here's something to think on regarding new format and points awarded? Elite men example: -Points only in Q1 for top 20 ( fastest 50pts/ slowest 5pts) -No points in Q2 -Points in final for top 30 ( fastest 250pts/ slowest 30pts) If you're a rider that consistently finishes 21st - 30th in Q1 and goes 11th-15th in Q2 not only will you never race in a final but you will have 0 points to show for an entire season even though on average you would be considered a top 25 rider in the world. With no points to show after...

Agreed unfortunately. If that fits the rule book. Side note/soapbox to complain about Rick’s commentary. He doesnt talk about the riders, he just podcasts random crap while people are riding. Rob, Elliot and Aaron talked about the riders, results elsewhere, history, and other random facts. It’s like they did research and Rick, not so much.

For real, kinda bizarre. It definitely felt like there was buzz around enduro again last weekend – and no attempt to keep any momentum. Haven’t caught up on socials yet, but the results make it seem pretty interesting: new winners, lots of best finishes, etc.

This is why I don’t think it works to have the two on the same weekend. So lame
