Having spent several years frequenting the different venues on the DH and EWS circuit I found MSA and Snowshoe to be more the exception than the rule. Hop on google maps and have a look at where most of the European rounds are hosted. Leogang has limited lodging and is basically a gravel parking lot that just appears along the side of road; Val di Sole is only slightly better but most of the accommodations are closed during the summer and there's very little in terms of accommodation and dining on site; Lenzerheide requires almost everyone to be bussed in...

While typically I agree that add-on prices are an annoyance, I find the idea of adding a tariff fee line item pretty interesting. https://www.bicycleretailer.com/industry-news/2025/04/16/specialized-an… It's a brands way of saying "The price of the actual product didn't go up, but the fees associated with getting the product here did." Seems like a good way to clearly assign responsibility for why consumers are paying more now. It's worth noting that if Spech is charging dealers 10% of dealer cost, or consumers 10% of MSRP for DTC sales, as opposed to the actual 10% of their imported invoice cost, then they are...

Not every company needs to grow into Specialized size but if there was an investment involved, that is usually what is demanded - never ending growth. Sad to see companies run like that no matter what field.

Just because they launched the bikes doesn't mean they can fend off creditors long enough to get those bikes into customer hands and realise profits.

i love you friggin nerds. all bikes are great somewhere. all bikes suck somewhere. get moar bikes. short chainstays are cool. long stays are pretty wild too. dorado FEELS way different to 40. Way. but thats the point right? I feel like santa cruz screwed up by not making bullit "MOST BIGGER" (battery/travel/geo) compared to VALA. but my ebike is a 2stroke. so maybe im way off.

Hi! This is my first post on this thread, but I have been reading for 2 years now. I talked with Sam pilgrim and a few other canyon guys at Tennessee Nationals, and also got to swing a leg over the Production New canyon sender. Supposedly the bike was supposed to release April 12 (that’s what Sam said, he also verified that it was the production version he was riding) so there’s a chance maybe it is releasing this month still? His bike had a baby blue color with white canyon letters. The (production?) bike also was equipped with the...

This is maybe not a common setup but I do a MB Metris with the removable back seats. In the winter I put a two person bench in the back and then I can fit two bikes inside two on a rack if needed (not camping in the winter to ride). Then in the other seasons a futon in the back and can usually fit two bikes inside while driving and keep em outside when camping. I think Jill Kitner/Bryn Atkinson have a dope van for a buildout idea.

Back when I was young and much faster, in 2011 when short chainstays were all the rage, I had the gen 2 Coilair Magic link. It had like 470mm chainstays or something (thats really long for a 26" bike from 15 years ago). I was faster on it for my local DH track that had lots of steep, loose shale where the 3 min DH segment had average speeds above 25 mph. It was faster for me than my DH bike at the time, despite the Kona having some really crappy tires on it. However, that same Kona was noticeably...

So update picked up this rig, plus 15% off accessories after purchase for basically what bros are charging used. I'm not a fan of the fork and I knew that going in so I have a lyrik from jenson that was 80% off that is going on it. I've always advocated used but damn some new deals are hot right...

haha you are right and I am sorry, I didn't mean to derail the thread so much. All I really wanted to do was defend Enduro as I agree with a lot that has been said above, it's mainly a perception issue, so I am trying to shift perception and bring some positivity into the discipline. That was the reason for the Jack/Sram comment and trying to make it less about Sram pulling Enduro funding, and also the Chris Ball comment, which did not go over well, but that one I'll accept and I will keep trying with him. I'll...

I'm blown away by the engagement by world level pros on the major MTB websites in general and certainly don't want to take it for granted! There's a professional New Zealand cricketer who's known to lurk and occasionally post on Reddit, but I can't think of anything else like it in any of the sports I follow. Social media doesn't count, obviously. Edit: And I bet Jesse Melamed never expected his observations to lead to a shitshow...

If I remember right Gwin started the whole uncaged thing at YT, specifically because he thought it was most beneficial for riders and himself to be able to have their own kit and component sponsors. He made it sound like he wasn't exactly happy with some of his previous contracts for kit and components, but that was ages ago so...

Since the last Trump tariff battles in his first administration, more and more bike stuff has left China. Santa Cruz has largely switched to Thailand for their frames, at least what I am seeing in the US. This is pretty recent so I’m not sure if it’s a total swap. They have historically been built in the skybox composites factories, who make several other high end brands. I don’t know if they switched mfgs or just moved or expanded locations. Lots of other higher end mtb stuff is in Taiwan and Vietnam. Some brands don’t bother publishing, or including on...

It isn't. Hikers aren't expecting bikes to be passing them uphill at almost 30MPH just like pedestrians aren't expecting cars to be passing them on the sidewalks.

"Small businesses on a growth path are getting slaughtered" That's the intention. Eliminate marketplace competitors either through attrition or acquisition. The largest companies have learned lately that politically-assisted attrition with a side of insider knowledge is cheaper than acquisition so that's what the plan is. In this new order you have coming in, do you have new products or a restocking of the products currently listed on your website? The jerseys look like good options for me and I'm always down to exchange money for goods with a person rather than shareholders.

Damn! A topic on which I have actual expertise, and Spomer and Jeff (rightly) shut it down. If everyone will indulge a single post, I think I have a relevant point. Putting aside the cumulative debt and focusing solely on the annual deficit of revenue to expenses, we can't solve the problem by taxing the wealthy or cutting spending. The math doesn't work on either. Besides demographics, the fundamental problem is that far too few people make enough money to support their families and pay a meaningful amount of tax. The only way to raise enough revenue is to get...
