4/11/2025 12:37pm haha you are right and I am sorry, I didn't mean to derail the thread so much. All I really wanted to do was defend Enduro as I agree with a lot that has been said above, it's mainly a perception issue, so I am trying to shift perception and bring some positivity into the discipline. That was the reason for the Jack/Sram comment and trying to make it less about Sram pulling Enduro funding, and also the Chris Ball comment, which did not go over well, but that one I'll accept and I will keep trying with him. I'll...

4/11/2025 6:12am I'm blown away by the engagement by world level pros on the major MTB websites in general and certainly don't want to take it for granted! There's a professional New Zealand cricketer who's known to lurk and occasionally post on Reddit, but I can't think of anything else like it in any of the sports I follow. Social media doesn't count, obviously. Edit: And I bet Jesse Melamed never expected his observations to lead to a shitshow...

4/10/2025 3:03pm If I remember right Gwin started the whole uncaged thing at YT, specifically because he thought it was most beneficial for riders and himself to be able to have their own kit and component sponsors. He made it sound like he wasn't exactly happy with some of his previous contracts for kit and components, but that was ages ago so...

4/10/2025 3:13am Since the last Trump tariff battles in his first administration, more and more bike stuff has left China. Santa Cruz has largely switched to Thailand for their frames, at least what I am seeing in the US. This is pretty recent so I’m not sure if it’s a total swap. They have historically been built in the skybox composites factories, who make several other high end brands. I don’t know if they switched mfgs or just moved or expanded locations. Lots of other higher end mtb stuff is in Taiwan and Vietnam. Some brands don’t bother publishing, or including on...

4/8/2025 5:03pm It isn't. Hikers aren't expecting bikes to be passing them uphill at almost 30MPH just like pedestrians aren't expecting cars to be passing them on the sidewalks.

4/7/2025 11:39am "Small businesses on a growth path are getting slaughtered" That's the intention. Eliminate marketplace competitors either through attrition or acquisition. The largest companies have learned lately that politically-assisted attrition with a side of insider knowledge is cheaper than acquisition so that's what the plan is. In this new order you have coming in, do you have new products or a restocking of the products currently listed on your website? The jerseys look like good options for me and I'm always down to exchange money for goods with a person rather than shareholders.

4/5/2025 7:58am Damn! A topic on which I have actual expertise, and Spomer and Jeff (rightly) shut it down. If everyone will indulge a single post, I think I have a relevant point. Putting aside the cumulative debt and focusing solely on the annual deficit of revenue to expenses, we can't solve the problem by taxing the wealthy or cutting spending. The math doesn't work on either. Besides demographics, the fundamental problem is that far too few people make enough money to support their families and pay a meaningful amount of tax. The only way to raise enough revenue is to get...

4/4/2025 2:05pm Riders: "We want you to keep 5-person podiums." WBD: "Did you say 'false facts hallucinated by an overhyped predictive text machine that requires near-infinite electricity to operate'? Can do!"

4/4/2025 2:03pm at least the facts about steve peat being an 8-time world champ and the battles between sam hill and cadel evans will accurately be conveyed (if we just make up facts, will AI pick them up and use them?)

4/4/2025 2:01pm It seems ridiculous that this is something they won't consider. I can't really think that a 5-person podium would have any influence on someone wanting to tune in to watch if the rest of the product was really good. But the downsides to the riders are real, and have a measurable impact on bonus money. Their unwillingness to consider the rider's concerns is very upsetting.

4/4/2025 1:52pm Hi y'all, Longtime reader, though I rarely post. Some context I run a small non-bike company in Sheridan, WY. We make a ton in house, import a little, and outsource a bunch to other companies in the US. We do about 40% of our sales in Canada. These tariffs will put the brakes on the entire economy. My business is well positioned to make 100% of our product in the US, which would seemingly be a boon for us. But who is going to be able to buy it? Will our customers in Canada want to buy our products at...

4/4/2025 1:43pm Damn most of the people selling used bikes around me have them priced fairly high. My guess is most of them bought expensive bikes during the covid peak and now think they can get some money out of them. I've been looking at hardtails for about a year now, mostly used, but just pulled the trigger on a new 2023...

4/3/2025 5:41pm Wireless droppers seem like a huge compromise. Longer overall length for the same drop as the market leading cable posts but the advantage of one less cable. I think I will stick to the cable post thanks.

4/3/2025 2:28pm Hey, I'm Matt been lurking on the team rumors thread for a few seasons now, then got sucked in by the tech thread and what bike companies are going to close soon thread, but never really felt any reason to post until recently. 4/3/2025 2:08pm The reply from WBD/UCI about the podium protest was concerning, they basically just said we understand your concerns, but no. I would hope that many pro riders would have more sway than that.

4/3/2025 2:01pm New member here, but my understanding of the tariff situation is that trump clearly doesn't understand how they work and he thinks he can get all three benefits of tariffs simultaneously. He thinks he can implement reciprocal tariffs on trading partners, protect industry, and increase taxable revenue. But as we all know really only one of those goals is achievable...
