I sit right at the intersection of AI and finance...somehow still broke, which feels like a moronic gift at this point... and I spend a lot of time thinking about where this is all going. I could write a long post about what the world might look like in 5–10 years, with only one certainty: I’d be wrong. But three things feel worth sharing here. First, automation displacing jobs isn’t new. It’s been accelerating since we learned to extract and transport fossil fuels...essentially doing more with fewer people. That trend hasn’t stopped. I saw a map today that reminded me...

The tech rumours thread's discussion of the upcoming Fuel (E/M/L)X has got me thinking, and seeing as this thread is just industry talk and Jeff lessons now, this seemed like the appropriate place. Can any of you industry lifers think of another time where you could feasibly see three distinct generations of a particular model on the sales floor of a dealer at the same time? I know Trek is typically in a 2-3 model year development-launch cycle with their hotter stuff, but it seems wild I can walk into a dealer and cross-shop the Trek Fuel Ex Gen 5...

It's really the first race of the season that's kept them that close. Jackson picked up only 50 points at that race while Loic got the max - 300 points - after qualifying 1st and winning the race. It would be great if the overall came down to the final race of the season rather than being wrapped up before then. With the final race being in Mont-Sainte-Anne the crowd energy could be epic, especially if Gracey is also in position to win the overall.

All this talk of "variable axle path" reminds me of my old Magic Link coilair. A 190mm travel bike that pedals like a 140mm bike, geo would vary too. It slackened out when on the brakes, rear wheel moved truly rearward on bumps, it was a great bike for 2010. The 455mm chainstays made it faster than my DH bike too (455 was huge for that time and 26 inch wheels). Too bad it was a Kona so I cracked two of them.

I think that kind of format would be great for Rampage, where weather determines whether or not the event can actually happen. It might even make a bit of sense for Hardline, where wind and rain could be the difference between making or coming up short on a 90ft jump. For UCI DH, I think they've shown they are willing and able to ride in unrideable (for us) conditions. Weather and changing track conditions are the nature of the game.

When dozens of Emmy winning programs put their stuff on YouTube to reach an audience under 45 wbd is like nah this is too popular to share with google. Can Chris ball ask them for the numbers on how many people watch Jon Oliver on YouTube versus max and hbo. I’d bet the numbers are staggeringly in favor of YouTube. But maybe I’m letting anecdotal evidence cloud my judgement too much.

I only watch the recaps, but it almost felt like they were trying out a rain delay without calling it a rain delay. I wonder if the soil was substantially different after the rain? Either way Goldstone threw another one down regardless he was on a winning pace.

I do a local Enduro with a night stage every year, it's fun and gets rowdy - though the lighting is pretty minimal and more for spectators so riders use lights. I think it was last year they ran the same stage during the daytime and the top guys were only a couple seconds slower at night so I wouldn't expect the pros to be going slow. https://www.instagram.com/reel/DAwyGiER9YF/?igsh=ZHljZTR2N2J4ajc1

I'll say it again, the top eight junior women would have qualified for elite women's finals in Val di Sole. All the junior women that have been interviewed are upset they weren't given the option to choose their line and wanted to hit the road gap. Why do we believe that junior men are capable of making their own choices, but junior women aren't?

"2. Closing a feature to a single group of contestants alone is wrong. Build a course that is rideable for everyone! Also junior woman." Can't get behind this take. The difference in ability between elite men and junior women is massive. They should instead make a more interesting B-line than just a wooden ramp to the side, should make it more enjoyable for the riders.

I raced the EWS in La Thuile 9 years ago!!! The loam was really good, the dirt was also amazing. It seemed to have less clay content that what you find at lots of race venues in the alps so there was grip even in the moist areas. The fresh grass and heather was tough to race on. That Slayer proto was also tough to race on as the A-S and A-R numbers were aggressively high but that didn't seem to faze Florian Nicolai later on when he got a frame. This shot was from practice day as you need...

I’m stoked for this one. I think we are in for a truly iconic track. The trail crew clearly put a lot of passion into making it sweet, and they got a lot of rider input which I think is important because the riders play the biggest role in the narrative of the weekend. If everyone is hyped about the track, the overall vibe is good. It also looks dumb steep.
