That's good news at least, MSA is definitely one of the best venues even if it has been raced for 30 years. Whistler will be great but Canada deserves more rounds than 1. Also may as well pin this thread and unpin 2025 so there's less confusion about which one is the active one.

While not my favorite street course for tv viewing by a long shot it’s still a super sick event. Loads of spectators on a track that’s gotta be pretty dang terrifying to see in person or do yourself. Dudes were hauling!!!’

We don't need more rules to confuse new viewers. Every single rider is given the exact same opportunity right now to make it into finals. It's fair without adding protection back in.

I really really hope the build turns out good. We really need a World Class DH course if want World Cup DH racing in the states. Hopefully we get a really sick STEEP AF track and they open Whiteface backup to DH riding.

I really want the dirt on what went down to lead to this change. Seems like the whole project is pretty last minute. No test event is pretty wild.

Spotted a guy who was maybe 5’8” on a full suspension 32” xc bike today while out on a ride and he was absolutely hauling up and over the top of a choppy fireroad. While it seems pretty EPIC for that application, I think the shorter dimensions and steeper angles of short travel bikes are what allow it to work without the wheelbase getting unreasonably long. The bike certainly didn’t look massive, just the distance between the wheels looked a bit tighter. At 6’4” I’m not sure I’d want to maneuver anything much longer than my current XL enduro bike...

I'm 100% not the target market and at this rate if they did come out with it, it would take me 20 years to try one, but I'm kinda excited about them. I just got my first 29er this year so I'm not going to be early adopter guy but it could be cool, particularly for bikepacking.

32" is going to be quite the interesting journey with challenges along the way. Tray style hitch racks will have the bikes hanging well outside a lot of side mirrors. Sizing, these may not be able to fit all riders. I have heard that bikes have been drawn up that will fit all the way down to current 29er fitments. Beyond that, geo gets funky in trying to make happen. Unfair advantage? In current gravel/XC, everyone is on equal wheelsizes for the most part. Bike boxes. These are already challenging to ship at a reasonable rate. It is going to...

I'm 6'7", and I'm so excited by the potential. All I'd say is that if you aren't interested in these wheels, don't use them. But please don't ruin it for me. It's ok if not every product is for you... lord knows 99% of bikes don't fit me, and I still enjoy learning about them.

Super competitive to get on the US Elite Men's DH team right now. Here's a list off the top of my head of fast US dudes who've been showing serious pace this year who didn't make the cut: Dante Silva, Evan Medcalf, Alden Pate, Gavin Tomlinson, Cole Suetos

Nino is in the same category as Greg Minnaar for me -- taking victories across what otherwise might be considered entirely separate generations or eras of racing. Gonna be hard for anyone to ever match that kind of longevity. A well-earned retirement.

RE: 2016: People may not remember this, but it was not a good year in the bike industry. Europe had terrible weather in March and April, Brexit was happening, there was an unforeseen glut of inventory (at the wholesale/distribor) level in the USA and China saw a big slowdown that caused their market to contract. If you go dig around you'll see stories on this stuff. As to the future, while I don't have a crystal ball, I do believe they'll hit their 2025 numbers. This is not inflation adjusted, just raw sales numbers. One thing I learned in working...

SC could just make a super one off custom frame for him if they had you know like they shit Specialized Gravity have been racing for years and just make a ridiculous heavy BB area. I would rather see them adapting what is already existing instead of something one off that will never see the light of day.

The rules for DH are almost as simple as saying that whoever rides a bike from the top to the bottom fastest while staying in the track limits wins, and I love it. Any type of hyper specific equipment rules like those in road racing or ski racing just limits the innovation that's required to be the fastest. If somebody wants to wear ankle weights or put oobleck in their tires because they think it's better, then they should let them. Let the fastest rider win. Shake weight in the steerer tube? Sure. Hamster bottle for the rear brake? Have...

That looks like a proper DH course (not that I'm completely qualified to say so, but based on my 15 yrs of watching World Cup DH...Smile This one's gonna be Jackson's to win. Pretty much 5 seconds of motorway at the end, otherwise, holding speed and rock gardens. Both things he's miles ahead of everyone else on right now. Should be fun to watch!

When I worked at a bikepark we had a bike rack in the back of the awd express van for crew rides and test rides. It sounds like you also have that going, loading it tetris style so everything is spaced is a big plus, and just using simple towels or other things on stanchions or parts that may rub...

I have an a 2012 LWB Chevy express van, its been a good budget camper/mtb van, but the mileage does suck. Had to get the transmission rebuilt at like 190K, but im steadily driving into the 200's now. Hopefully it last me another 5 years. I got it to do a big 8 week trip in, and have since done two more of those trips, but if I needed something for just weekend/short haul trips I would happily rock a used Sienna. I would love something smaller, but the beast is paid off and the running cost are pretty cheap...

One gripe I have with Strava when using segments for "timing" "races" is the start speed. Obviously someone who bushwacks 30 feet up into the rough to enter the segment already going mach chicken is going to have an advantage, and there's no way to tell if the "winner" did that or started from a dead stop and just crushed the seg. Not sure if the solution would be building a "race mode" option to only count a run if the tracking started from 0 mph or utilize splits or something? But that's the main reason I don't take any...

American here so I have a town and country and contrary to popular belief it doesn't actually suck. I get 25-30mpg definitely on the high end if I'm not city driving. It's good for camping, I can fit bikes and sleep inside if I want. The stow and go seats are actually super convenient even if I keep them down...
