2/2/2025 1:32pm Ancillotti did bushings as well, even on the main pivot. I believe they still do. A buddy of mine had one. He needed to break the bushings in, so I believe they come quite tight from the factory and then kind of grind themselves to the right tolerances. He was (is) rather sloppy with bike care, but the bike never creaked or so. Anecdotal, I know, but could hint that with the right execution bushings could work... Edit: just got called out: a) by first friend not approving being called sloppy, b) by second friend wondering how I could have...

2/2/2025 9:57am The common thread in all of this is the name you keep dropping, and the one that has disappeared from our lexicon: WBD and UCI. WBD is a for profit organization, they're going to try to make profit from things they spend money on. The problem is that the UCI sold DHMTB broadcast rights during a bubble as a money maker to WBD, but in reality, it was already a stone with not a lot of blood (profit) left to be squeezed from it, and certainly not the legs to become some F1 scale thing (and if you've watched much...

2/2/2025 9:54am Long post that was intended to be a short post but then I got to picking it apart and teasing it out further. Sorry! I'm not conviced "should" is a word in the UCI/WBD vocabulary. A quick reframing of the whole idea (that I don't necessarily agree with but I could see as being completely within the scope of how the UCI could be looking at it): Is Gwin any less retired than Minnaar? Who raced more last year and who seems to be more publicly active in DH right now? How about Richie Rude? RR used to ride downhill...

2/2/2025 9:51am Who else thinks Greg won't make it all season without hoping on a bike for a race, even if just for giggles?

2/2/2025 9:51am I know he's an icon of the sport, but he has only been in one WC final since 2023, and that was at the first race in 2023. He's barely made it into the top 50 in semis most races. He's an icon, but sports progress.

1/27/2025 11:54pm Most Horst links like the Frameworks have low anti rise values, and the floating brake can help further tune it without changing a thing else about the bike. Seems pretty normal to me. Cube was testing then out too a little while ago.

1/27/2025 11:53pm 77designz just released their new bar after parting ways with WeAreOne. Looks like they are using the same principle as before with a thinner 33mm bar and a thicker 35mm stem clamping area. Instead of a alloy sleeve it is just thicker layup. Their previous bar was 258g and this new one is 220g. Also much cheaper at 163.85 € compared to 279.95 € before https://www.77designz.com/barlerina

1/27/2025 11:53pm Buddy of mine works for an mtb brand that did headset routing and they saw a noticeable dip in sales on these models. They’ve pivoted back on a newer model. Not sure if they’ve seen better success with that model but it will be interesting to see. My wife has a repeater and the headset routing has been a nightmare.

1/27/2025 11:50pm So a "buddy" of mine used to write reviews for MTB brands/apparel/components. He/they would not/hesitate/re-write negative reviews of things so as to help maintain the relationship they had with the companies they were dealing with. Sometimes, they just simply wouldnt publish a review for the product they were sent. Think back to the last time you read a overly negative review of a product. Now I get that most products are really good nowadays, and most reviews are written in a way to highlight the favourable aspects of a product, or to highlight that a certain product might not be...

1/27/2025 11:38pm The RS has MIPS Integra Split “ which combines an impact-savvy, dual-density foam layer and a Low Friction Layer between the two, to reduce rotational forces in a crash that would otherwise be transmitted to the brain.” The other speed frames have MIPS Air Node, which actually increases your likelihood of a brain bleed as punishment for not buying the $280 helmet.
