I'll be honest, 15% is pretty low. Not V1 Sentinel low but getting there. Definitely down in the "huh" range. The only way I'd ever expect to get that to not bottom out in the parking lot with a coil is run practically no sag or run an unreasonable amount of damping. I had a V2 Hightower as a personal bike for a bit. It was significantly more progressive with a little more travel and a little more shock stroke to work with. That sounds an awful lot like they actually didn't get the leverage curve they wanted. Nothing wrong with designing a frame to work with the natural progressivity of an air shock, but if you use all the volume spacers in the air shock you spec stock, you probably would be better served with a more progressive leverage curve.

Frame kinematics that require stuffing air cans full of volume spacers and are a big no-go for coil shocks? Hmmm, I feel like we have been here before.

mr Dave Weagle himself responded to a comment I left about the RMU Nighttrain, stating that the rear center does legitimately grow 30mm to 457.5mm at sag. I still don't believe it, especially because he's claiming it's "poppy and playful" but my range grows almost 30mm bottomed out and is not "poppy and playful".

We already know his name as he's been making waves for some time already (which is crazy to say given that he's only 11 at present), but Weston Lukens aka " Wes_sends" is set to take the next step now as he has signed on with Neko Mulally's Frameworks program. They've developed a custom 24/26 mullet for him to ride, and by the looks of this reel, Wes is feeling at home on the new rig already. The future is bright...in fact, the future is now!

Well, I guess I’d love to ride the new Tallboy and then decide, how the move to a new system tastes. The best feature imho of the VPP with a solid rear triangle was that all bearings were located in the rocker. Changing them was a breeze and there was no risk of damaging the carbon frame in the process. I tend to ride my bikes as long as possible, since they became so great. (swapped annually when I used to work in a bike shop, industry deals etc, and geometry was still shitty and new bikes sometimes brought revelatory...

Whichever bike has the best damper tune specced probably wins at that point. I'm pretty sure that's a big deciding factor between bikes with different linkage designs also though. You would need control wheels, and tires at a minimum, and probably drivetrain also to get any useful data about which frame works better.

If we compare the new horst link tallboy with the Allied Fitz, Forbidden Reya and Transition Smuggler, there a few difference: Tallboy is the only bike using a trunion shock most likely a 185x50, Smuggler and Fitz use a normal 210x50 shock and Reya use a 190x45 shock. So Reya most likely have a higher starting leverage ratio that could limit heavier rider that are getting close to the shock max pressure. Reya, Smuggler and most likely Tallboy use double bearing setup at the chainstay. Santa Cruz does the same for the Bullit and Vala. Allied Fitz has no exploded...

To me Enduro is the most interesting and all skills encompassing form of mtb racing. It's just that bike racing (other than Tour de France, which I love watching) as a whole is difficult to package and translate to the TV screen for the masses to enjoy.

The minimal changes to the firebird and nomad compared to the generation before shows how we almost converged in enduro bike geometry. Nothing new is needed in that saturated market.
