12/18/2024 5:21am Get coaching ASAP. We all 'learn' to ride bikes when we are kids. All that is learned is how to stay upright. There are a ton of skills to learn to ride safely and quickly. Ride with people faster than you, smarter than you, older than you, younger than you. Always try to learn from them. Never stop trying to learn. Be patient Spend time at the pump track and learning fundamentals. Learn to ride opposite foot forward. Start riding dirt jumps right away! It transforms how you see the trail in front of you. Pedal! Get out and see...

12/17/2024 6:37pm You know how rich dorks move into the cool neighborhood and then start complaining about the nightclub’s noise and the neighborhood starts sucking and becomes lame and they’re all looking around like what? That’s what this feels like. Union embodied the passion that truly drives the sport. Their whole thing was to help, not to earn. Pricing them out is not better for anyone.

12/17/2024 6:36pm Top comment from the other site pretty well sums up my thoughts on everything (exclusive of the last sentence, I’ll probably still watch because I’m an absolute mug)… ‘WBD keeps saying these changes are good for the sport, but I’ve never been less excited for a new season of World Cup. I have no plans to watch.’

12/17/2024 6:36pm I agree with you. What a fuckin waste. I gave them the benefit of the doubt the first year and even paid to watch. Last year I pirated it out of spite and will continue to do so until they actually make a positive impact on the sport.

12/17/2024 6:27pm My 1st MTB was a brand new 1987 GT Avalanche Elite (the bike I'm on in my profile pic) that cost me $680 and I had to finance most of it at over 10% interest as a dumb 18yr old dude. I loved that bike and just recently donated it to a good home. GT will always have a special place in my heart and I hope they can return at some point in time.

12/9/2024 3:47pm I talked to a factory rider of a well known d2c brand. He also had ridden an Amflow bike with the dji motor and said he’s never ridden a bike with this good of a motor. He rode stuff up that he considered unridable on any other e-bike including his own sponsors e-bike. And the current e-bike of his sponsor is really good, but no dji motor. But there are lots of bike companies that have the dji motor already in house and build prototypes. HOWEVER… There are management concerns (I assume that counts for all bike brands the same)...

12/9/2024 4:47am No shock requires a vacuum bleeder, they just make it easier and quicker. If you're rebuilding dampers all day long, that's way too many hand jobs!😶 Tools: Appropriate sized shaft clamps for the damper shaft A few different size Knipex pliers Some nice syringes (the vet ones work great and can be rebuilt) Any specialty fittings for oil ports and charging the IFP ( Anso is a great source for these and other parts/tools) A nice pick for removing old seals No need for nitrogen, plain ol' atmosphere works fine for home work. Be careful when removing old seals, especially...

12/7/2024 12:45am Maybe it's good for Enduro to fall from where it's at and fall back to what made it cool in the first place. Ditch the big teams with big tents, let's go back to riders just going out on big days on big stages finding out who can win the war of attrition. I have talked to a few top 20 riders who have said the atmosphere amongst the riders during the races is awesome and everyone is having a great time. they are also fully aware that it's not translating to viewership or bringing out crowds however they still...

11/29/2024 7:56am Hi there, Cam here from Outlier MTB. First and foremost, thank you all for your positive comments and support during our recent launch! I see that some of you have been discussing the actual pedal drop on this forum. There have been some misunderstandings that we would like to take some time to clear up. Our Pendulum pedal as it was released has 6mm of drop measured from the centre of the axle to the top of the platform. Most flat pedal platforms are somewhere between 5-7mm above the axle so our pedals are essentially ~12mm bellow your average pedal...

11/29/2024 5:58am Don't think pedals spin in an oval. If your foot sits on top of the axle for a traditional flat pedal, it basically does that throughout the whole circular motion. The only catch here is that your circle center is not the center of the BB, it's offset by the same amount your feet is off the axle of the pedal. The black circle is what the crank/pedal spindle spins, at the center of that is the BB. Red is what you might be experiencing with a traditional flat pedal today, where you're offset positive at the same amount for...

11/29/2024 5:52am As a taller guy who runs too many headset spacers with a 50mm rise bar and high COG, I'm really interested in these. I'm not sure they'll hold up, I'm an axle bender and thin pedal axles have never survived long. The standard bearings should be an easy swap when they inevitably toast themselves. But I'm dubious that they'll hold up given the amount of leverage on those bearings. I'll try them if I can buy a spare left axle from day 1. Say it's a 15mm drop from my existing Scarabs. That's 15mm less rise on the bars/spacers, 15mm...

11/29/2024 5:50am I would see it like this: The pendulum flat pedal plattform is approximately 12mm lower than your normal/most flat pedals with an axle going through the whole pedal body. and since the axle is most of the time somewhere around 6-8mm in diameter, on top of which there is still some aluminium body above it, its lower. Not 12mm under the center of the pedal axle but 12mm under normal flat pedal plattform.

11/29/2024 5:46am regarding the durability of the outlier pendulum or void pedal, Andrew Major has a set of each and has a good track record when he was at NSMB and Bike Mag (only writes at his own blog for now https://meatengines.com/ ) for long term review and teardown so if long term issue should arise we will most likely hear about it. And yes those pedals have 2 6902 bearing per pedals and a chunky looking steel axle that needs to be properly torqued to 30nm for correct preload on those bearings. So not a pedal for the frequent parking lot...

11/29/2024 5:41am The best thing about those pedals for me would be how they should eliminate the need to replace bent and snapped pins after almost every ride (I suck and lots of rocks around here). I can't buy canadian made though because there is always a risk some of my money will end up supporting canadian hockey.

11/29/2024 5:27am I only see very specific group benefiting and that would be people riding marathons and super long endurance stuff/bikepacking with MTBs where you could target specific cadence so smaller gear change should in theory help, XCO is already too dynamic for any of that to make sense and the same goes for trail and enduro riding. I went from 12s back to 11s and honestly never felt any difference (wallet did though), I'd try 10s if there was a viable option for widerange cassette - Deore 10s exists but cassette is crazy heavy for non mechanized bikes and I know...

11/29/2024 5:25am I went back to 11 speed on all of my bikes about 4 years ago. I find it far less finicky than 12 speed to set up and spending less on wear items suits me fine.
