" Q2 has worked from the point of view of making qualifying more exciting, but is the race more exciting when top riders aren't in the mix (look at how close Jackson was to missing the big show this weekend)? For me the jury's still out on that one" I want to see the fastest 30/15 riders on a given track compete for the win on equal (or as equal as possible) footing. As soon as you start giving out protected status, qualifying becomes a two tier system. This may sound harsh but I want at least 1 potential winner...

Such a shame that Cami Balanche is stepping away from racing after her brief but spectacular career. How amazing that As a latecomer to the sport she achieved more than so many others have as she joins Rachel and Tracy on the list of recent retirees from the sport which may soon include Miriam as well When Vali stepped up to elites I was fearing domination by her . Though successful She definitely hasn't dominated. I definitely underestimated the strength and resilience of riders like Tahnee and Marine to bounce back from their horrible injuries. As new riders came into...

As someone 5' 9" who test rode a full 29er once, experienced tire buzz, and never rode a full 29er again (other than hardtails) I can confidently say that I will never own a full suspension bike with a 32" wheel. I struggle enough with manuals and some last second jumps on my mullet bike. 29 rear and 32 front for me, and millions of other "average" sized riders would pretty much be a strictly wheels-on-the-ground affair, and that sounds about as fun as watching paint dry, compared to the actual mountain biking we do on a regular basis. For...

Is that Grice Crispy losing his rice krispies? 😀 I have been riding a USD fork for about a year now. The only time I notice the torsional twist is when climbing techy stuff and the front wheel gets offline/lodged between rocks. When trying to dislodge the wheel, the chassis twist is apparent compared to a traditional fork. Never an issue when moving at speed. However, it does feel different when hard on the front brake with good traction compared to a traditional fork. Not a bad or vague feeling, just different. Like there is more braking modulation & traction...

I think mtb riders are finally experiencing what hikers have felt since we started riding their trails. Having a bike pass you at 15mph when you walking or stopped on the trail isn’t all that different from being on an analog and having an eeb pass at 20. Now the eebs are pissed because Expensive Eebs will pass them at 28? Welcome to the club. Can we all agree that horses are way worse than class 3 eebs? I’d love for us to all rally around a common cause rather than let the man divide and conquer us

i asked neko this morning and he said that asa's priority for the season is world cup results. asa is free to race whatever he wants, but asa chose to sit this one out (can't blame him, consequences are pretty heavy going down here). he'll race rock creek next week.

I thought you were right so I built one! dropperchecker.com Doesn't solve the missing frame insertion info. But still makes it a bit easier to make a call.

We’ve reached a point where bike geometry is pretty dialed for most rider sizes. Reach and chainstay lengths adjust, and brands like Cannondale even implement size-specific kinematics. The next frontier in frame chassis design seems to be ensuring that both large and small riders experience the right frame compliance for their weight and, beyond that, that every rider has a bike that behaves to their preference. Some riders want to plow, others need the chatter to be calmed down, and some just want to pop and play and have an exhilarating ride on their local blue trail, like a track...

I'll do a bigger post on this later, but it seems to me there is a greater likelihood of recession than I expected even 8 weeks ago. A few data points caught my eye today: Buffett Indicator: Currently sitting at ~2.1 standard deviations above the mean, signaling historically expensive equity valuations relative to GDP. Atlanta Fed GDPNow: Forecasting a sharp economic contraction of -2.8% in Q1, a significant shift from recent strength. Polymarket: Pricing in a 40% probability of a U.S. recession in 2025, reflecting rising concerns among market participants. If a recession materializes, especially alongside broad tariffs, ongoing inventory...
