TEAMROBOT Liked a reply to forum topic Rimpact Chain Damper

Trail springs absolutely remove the odd pedaling sensation that I experienced, but according to Rimpact they also decrease the chain dampers ability to absorb energy from the chain. I'll be honest... I haven't been able to "feel" the difference between the hard springs and soft springs on the trail yet. I'd really like to do a back-to-back day with laps on the stiff springs, soft springs, with a normal chainring, and an Ochain, but I just haven't done it yet. It's been hard for me to parse out what I'm feeling without that sort of back-to-back testing.

Agreed with Ebruner. I think that rider weight matters even more when you are talking about ebikes especially for females. When you are 130lbs anything the high side of 45 "rides wrong..." or so I'm told. As a percentage change relative to body mass it all matters much more.

I’ve been fortunate enough to extensively ride full-power e bikes ranging from ~43 to over 63 pounds, in roughly 5-pound increments. Each weight bracket brings its own personality and trail performance. 1. The 60+lb beasts These heavy hitters dominate flatish, high-speed, bumpy terrain. Their sheer mass helps them power through rough ground with a confidence that’s genuinely grin-inducing. But take...

Hey, I’m Ryan Burney. I’ve been engineering bikes for 8 years, and this is a breakdown of what I’ve learned starting my own small business, Rim Saver. In this post, I’m sharing everything I’ve learned while launching a product business in the bike world. What worked, what didn’t, and what I’d do differently. If it helps even one person take the leap or avoid a mistake, it’ll be worth it. Background I made the first version of Rim Saver in college. The idea started out as a beadlock concept, then evolved into a beadlock with rim protection, then just rim...

Having ridden the Pinion MGU extensively, I can confirm it offers some standout advantages: -Strong torque in gears 1-4 -Belt drive improves suspension feel (or perception of it). I don't think unsprung mass matters much. it's more about the absence of vibration caused by conventional drivetrain weight and associated noise. -Shifting while stopped is a game-changer, especially when caught in...
Carbon/epoxy twill (woven with as many fibers in 0 and 90 degree orientation) mostly behaves uniformly in all directions. Using an isotropic material with stiffness (Young's modulus) of about 60 to 70 GPa is going to be pretty representative on much easier to simulate. Simulating how the fabric drapes over a shape is especially important when using materials with fibers...

Color me impressed. Love it when people take initiative and go get something done. Why not you? Couple of thoughts that might be helpful. - Instead of inseam, I'd prefer to measure the distance from BB to top of saddle on an existing bike. I think this would make it more accurate as well by accounting for pedal/shoe, personal preference on saddle height, and (if the same saddle was used) the stack of the saddle? Maybe you could keep both and let people choose? - Maybe add some fine print on how the measurements are taken. For example, specify that...

I thought you were right so I built one! dropperchecker.com Doesn't solve the missing frame insertion info. But still makes it a bit easier to make a call.

Axle path influence many things as mentioned in this thread; weight bias, anti squat, packaging but most importantly bump absorption. When we look at leverage ratio, they are always plotted for vertical force at the contact patch but in reality leverage ratio is not fixed and depends on the orientation of the force or bump height. For a given axle...

The counter measure spring serve essentially the same purpose in both Super Deluxe and Super Deluxe Coil. They aim at reducing (opposing) shock force at topout you need to overcome before the shock moves (preload) caused by the IFP. In the Super Deluxe air, it's action is 2 fold, it mechanically provide negative force via the spring itself and also...
