12/20/2025 6:48am Lol I did feel this needed to be broken out to its own thread - Neko Mullaly did a great video on weight here and came to the same ind of conclusion I did - There is a certain minimun weight of wheel/tyre/brakes etc most people need to run for the bike to ride well, and the only way to drop any significant amount of unsprung weight from those parts would impact performance far worse than anything you gained. As long as you have good tyres, wheels that are stiff and strong enough for you then you can try to...

12/15/2025 5:34am Not tech rumors, but soil tech history! The difference between Oregon, WA and BC is all about ice. Kilometer+ thick ice sheets created glacial terrain features and exposed more bedrock from Washington State north. Oregon didn't get the sweet, sweet ice sheet remodeling. The maximum extent of the Puget Lobe of the Cordilleran Ice Sheet was Tenino, which is between Seattle, Washington and Portland, Oregon. In the Seattle area you have a lot of glacial till soils that the ice pushed around. Further north the ice scraped away soils and smoothed the bedrock, making terrain for amazing tech riding. This...

brash Liked a reply to forum topic E-bikes make you f*tter? Training with an eMTB
11/2/2025 10:30am Good read. I ride for fun now, all rides lead to the pub so regardless I'm having 5 schooners after the ride, any fitness aspects are moot. If I ride my "meat powered" hardtail there is a sense of acheivment, my legs are sore, my ass is sore. The beers are delicious If I ride my 170mm eeb, my upper body muscles are sore, my ass is sore, the beers are still delicious You just choose the right tool for the job that day. If I have nothing on all day I'll ride the hardtail at a leisurely pace and...

11/2/2025 10:22am The assertion that e-bikes decrease fitness is widespread. On the surface, the reasoning appears sound: riders often feel like they have expended more energy after a normal ride compared to an e-bike ride. Therefore, normal bikes must provide superior fitness benefits, right? Not quite. This surface-level analysis misses several crucial insights about how fitness actually works. Let's start with a simple fact: work done is work done, regardless of the bicycle beneath you. If you maintain the same effort level on an e-bike as you would on a traditional bike, you'll simply travel farther in the same time. In this...

LePigPen Liked a comment about video Why Do Racers Go Faster Without A Chain?
10/29/2025 8:37am
The real answer: anger. The reason they go so much faster can sometimes be heard right after it occurs... Usually with a quite loud "FUCK!" (that said, I don't condone finding ways to get angry before every race run... this is not mental health advice from a licensed professional)

10/28/2025 10:12pm Love this format so much. I wish things like this were readily available for amateur races. Seems like all local races are XC, enduro, or maybe DH. But as someone with a trials/BMX background, I want to make a fool of myself on climbs, slalom, supercross jump lines, switchbacks, etc.

10/26/2025 9:08am As one who had a 'career' in freeride and spent that career working to get into Rampage, I have a lot to say about Rampage, its evolution, and its current state. I will try to keep it short. The professionalization of Rampage over the last 25 years has made for a better event. Riders and builders are better paid. It has resulted in more coverage, more reward, and the ability to build a professional career around the event. Is it perfect? No. But it is pretty darn good. Is there room for improvement? Yes. Has it gotten safer for athletes...
